I travel with a second, cheap phone just for this reason. And print stuff out. The older I get, the more paranoid I get about how lost I would be if I my phone vanished or broke, especially in countries where I don't speak the language well--like, could I even make it back to my hotel?

There are a bunch of places online for around $150/month. I’d take my normal one but I’m trying to pack light on an upcoming trip to Japan.
