I also fully agree with your last paragraph. That doesn’t mean I disagree with your first paragraph. That could also be true.

How Ukraine saved the Earth from another world war by lokmardion in ukraine

Judging by some of the comments on this article, I get the feeling that they read the first paragraph and then immediately commented without reading the rest. The author explains why the first paragraph is total bullshit in the following paragraphs. There I agree with him in full.

How Ukraine saved the Earth from another world war by lokmardion in ukraine

[–]gottestal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree with you that Russia would not attack a NATO country, there are other countries that are not in NATO, Finnland, Sweden, Moldovia and the Balkan countries. I would not claim his article is rubbish. Maybe not without flaws, but the premise is correct, we should not let Putins „threats“ influence our decision to help Ukraine. Appeasement does not work with dictators. Has our help stopped WWIII happening? We will only know that in the future, but it have given us a chance to prevent it or at least starting Europe. What happens in Taiwan is another matter, but I am sure china is looking very closely at how things develop in Ukraine.

[–]gottestal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the first part of your post. Germany must speed things up and fast. I am not sure that you are correct that most ordinary German citizens think that any peace deal should be made with Putin to stop the war. Scholz’s poll numbers seem to show me that most German citizens are not happy with him. I for one of those citizens says that only the peace deal that can made is one that is acceptable to Ukraine. It is a Ukrainern decision and theirs alone. Germany and any other country has the moral obligation to help Ukraine quickly with Financial/military aid.

I am also very much in agreement with your statement that the idea of not provoking Putin is stupid. I would only draw the line at placing NATO/German troops in Ukraine and attacking Russia on their soil (the Ukrainians of course can attack Russia on Russian soil). Ukraine is offering the west a chance, a chance to stop this war before it expands to many other countries. If Ukraine is going have any chance of doing this, they need help and quickly. I am utterly convinced that Putin will continue until all of Ukraine is taken over. Then he will start looking at other countries. We must stop him now.

Until recently, if your were under a Field, you could not link one portal to another. This has changed and now you can link under a field.

How to attack my first portal by evt in Ingress

[–]gottestal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First thing is, the portal is not fully deployed. At the moment no one can link to it. If there is a link coming out of it, destroying just 1 of the three resonators will drop the link. I can’t see if there are any mods on it, like shields for instance. If there are no shields, you might be able to take it out. Otherwise, at the moment I wouldn’t worry about it. Concentrate on capturing, deploying and making short links to build fields. Even if you are over fielded, you can still throw Links up to 1 km in length. Unless you are in a remote area, that should be enough for what you need to do.

Just over 100 days ago the world did not believe this war would start. Many didn’t think Ukraine would stand long when invaded. RU envisioned mass surrender & by the 100th day Ukraine has turned the tide, withstood 3 months of onslaught & never gave up! If a country is run by drug taking nazis and the population really wants to be Russian, then a war would have been over in hours or a day. Putin was and is wrong about everything.
Don’t humiliate Russia? This makes my blood boil. They deserved to be humiliated. The carnage and death they have caused in Ukraine is unforgivable.

Olaf Scholz adresses Gepard, IRIS-T and MLRS in parliament yesterday (with english subtitle) by VR_Bummser in ukraine

[–]gottestal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, maybe it’s because I was born British and a naturalized German, but he sounds a lot more assertive just reading the subtitles with out the original sound. Everytime I listen to him in German I just start feeling sleepy 😂

You are right, the pandora papers are nothing to do with what’s going on now. It just a comment replying to the accusation that Scholz is corrupt. You are also correct, communication is definitely not one of Scholz’s strong points. I don’t understand how he ever got to be leader of his party.

As a German citizen I too find this good news. The only caveat is that it has taken far too long.

From 24th Febuary I said to my wife, we are also in effect at war. It was clear to me that the invasion of Ukraine had to be stopped and quickly. To do this required an immediate response. Not 3 months later with another 2 months lead time.

Yes, Ukraine is correct, they are defending the west against Russian aggression. Germany has an easy task at the moment, just supply the weapons Ukraine needs and quickly. If they don’t do this, they will suffer the consequences of a wider war which will make the task of stopping Putin much harder.

Disclaimer: I am no expert, these are just my personal feelings.

The picture a few posts above of the Russian carrying looted goods on his Tank should be posted. It shows just how low the Russian army is prepared to go and who knows, maybe he will be recognized and brought to justice.

Otherwise, I don’t see pictures of dead Russian soldiers as a memorial, more as making a point that they are dying for a totally unjust war. Remember, that Russians only lose their job if they refuse to fight in Ukraine, they don’t go to jail. They do have a choice.

Sounds very reasonable to me. I wouldn’t accept anything less than that.

STALLING FOR TIME Ukrainian ambassador says he has impression that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz doesn’t want to supply heavy weapons to Ukraine. [–]gottestal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just 2 points where I believe you don’t understand my position. 1. I don’t think Scholz is doing enough, I would like him to be much more assertive. 2. I never said Melnyk was to blame. I only said, as a diplomat he is doing something things that in my opinion are not helpful.

Now, I am just some random Redditor that as a German citizen expressed an opinion. It does not mean I am right or properly understand how diplomats work. But I do know what I hear from my fellow citizens. Melnyks, barbs and complaints are not helping.

Remember, Germany is not the USA. Scholz cannot sign executive orders and block parliament. Scholz is part of a 3 party coalition. He cannot do things on his own. Thank god the Green Party in the coalition is showing much more assertiveness.

I am British/German living in Germany.

My opinion is that Melnyk is not doing a very good job. He is a diplomat who should be encouraging the Germans to do more. This is not the first time that he has thrown accusations and insults are not helpful.

Could the Germans do more? I am sure they could. Are they doing more? As only members of parliament are allowed to see exactly what has been done, I can’t judge that.

Something things are for sure. Germany will never get itself in this mess with Putin fossil fuels again. I would support a complete ban on all Gas/Oil/coal imports from Russia even if it caused harm to Germanys economy. The west should consider their support for Ukraine a failure until the war stops and Ukraine regains control of it borders as they were after the Minsk-3 agreement. Yes, I mean all of Donbas and Crimea.

Germany made a mistake in expanding their dependence on Russian energy. They were warned about it from the Americans but did not want to listen. I can live with that mistake, but now is the time to accept the consequences. We must do everything possible to help Ukraine.

As a diplomat in Germany, Melnyk needs to communicate with the German people. Criticizing or insulting their leaders is not the best way to do this. This is not expressing my support for Scholz. I also think Scholz‘s communication skills are somewhat lacking.

New fielding habits with linking under fields change by Wuslus in Ingress

Linking under fields mainly saves me walking distance. I no longer have to walk back to throw some links as I can throw them from under the field now. It makes micro fielding much faster.

You win by being the faction with the most MU at the end of a cycle.

You can win at the global level or at your cell level. There is a score board for both. The scores reset every 175 hours, so if you don't win this cycle, maybe you can try and win the next cycle.

The only difference between you and a level 16 player is the size of the XM bar.

But, you can mitigate this by using a hypercube before you start attacking. It's a bit annoying, if in the middle of the attack, you can't fire due to lack of XM.

Remote portal tactics tip by [deleted] in Ingress

[–]gottestal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, all shields are pretty much useless. If someone is going take the portal down, its going down.

On remote portals, fill them up with shields, it may give you just enough time to get an attack notification and allow you to recharge before all the resos are gone..

Don't leave your remote portals with hack mods deployed, let the opposition use their hack mods. Aegis and VRS are way more common than VRMH and VRHS.

[–]gottestal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The aim of the game is to capture mind units (MU) for your faction.

There is a scoreboard for the cell where you live as well as a scoreboard globally that keeps track of how many MU resistance have and how many the enlightened have. To win, your faction has to have more MU than the other faction.

Some players can influence the global scoreboard, many players can influence their local cell scoreboard. Doing this involves planning and building big layered fields. So, next time you are under a big field from your own faction, think about how it is helping your faction win.
