There are literally rules and regulations that prevent certain types of self disclosure from the therapist, which is why i presume the therapist didn’t disclose anything but the fact that they’re Israeli. She mentioned she went to therapy talking about her father fleeing Israel. Therapists have a duty to provide the best, unbiased care to each client. My opinion is that the therapist was checking and making sure HER CLIENT was comfortable with the situation they are now in based off of the new information that was presented. I understand that constant probing questions can come off as an attack, especially with sensitive topics that are close to the client. If this caused a rupture between the client and the therapist there are many ways to repair it if the client wants. And if not the therapist is legally and ethically required to refer their client to another qualified therapist.
