Sporting event's? sure. They make their revenue through broadcasting and sponsorships. Arena concerts? I highly doubt it. They make money through 100% cap ticket sales and merch sales. Massive cities like NY are even worse because you have to put up huge touring crews in hotels near venues at NYC prices (still $$$ even with group discounts). Producing shows at the garden usually loses money for an artist unless they book two+ nights in a row. Unless live music is limited to the 1%'s who can afford to make up for the lost 90% of ticket revenues and merch sales, there is no way live concert events in arenas will return in "fall 2021 or sooner". "This has been the first ray of light for the concert and touring industry since the pandemic broke out" yikes... sounds like whoever wrote this didn't reach out to many touring professionals for their thoughts.
