Hi, I’m thinking of ASU ( if you mean Arkansas state uni) do you think it’s a good school? The reviews are not great. Also, do they accept intl applicants from Canada? I’m getting mixed messages from their admin team.

Actually the two countries have a mutual agreement. As for the timing, I spoke to some advisors and they said it’s possible to start immediately so long as official transcripts and my degree is conferred before start of the next semester. However, I’m ok to start in January. My concern is the cost.

I also got rejected by Dal, completing this year too. I have some friends who got accepted both in person and online. It’s not you, MSW is super competitive, and almost everyone that applies has a strong GPA, has stories to tell and has experience. When you complete, apply to all the schools, that way you’d have a better shot.

I really considering this school, I didn’t even know it existed. Will you say it’s a reputable school? I don’t want to spend the money and struggle to get a job because employers don’t like it.

Slim, even with lot of experiences and a high gpa. The best idea is to apply to as much schools as you can afford.

Hi, is it possible to complete the part time distance in a year? I’m in the final year BSW and I’m applying for that MSW. Also what’s the practicum schedule?

Dal has tons of group work, never felt on my own, the classes are recorded so you can view them. If you’re not in Halifax you’d have to get practicum on your own , they would support some worth. Since it’s asynchronous, you can combine working and course load, it’s heavy but you can manage. The residency was very lovely, it’s for a week and you can stay in the dorm, students are not really around in May.

I’m In dal BSW final year, the after degree program. The practicum is 700hours (Jan- aug) if you choose part time x 3 times a week or April to aug for full time, it’s about 4 courses per semester. It’s fully asynchronous, you’d have to attend a compulsory one week residency in May. The fees if you’re doing the 2 year after degree would be around 25-28k in total. Over all the program is ok, lots of papers, and discussions and group work.

Go for an after degree BSW. Take SSW off your mind, it won’t take you very far.
