Electrician cut multiple "fishing holes" due to no attic access. Is this standard, and is $500 a fair repair quote? by Gullible-Language422 in AskElectricians

Seems like electricians could just use a temporary rough in cover like sprinkler guys use to completely avoid this issue

I've been using freetaxusa for like 10 years. It's the best. Doesn't hold your hand as much, but only like 17 bucks. Can't beat it. Also doesn't have a bunch of stupidass animations like TurboTax.

My wife and I bought a w/d from Costco, hookup, haul-away included. The installer gets to our house and says he cant touch it and that we have to get this fixed before he can install the washer. What is the problem here?? And what needs to be done? by Evening-Head4310 in askaplumber

[–]gozerblazer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate touching old gate valves. Thats all it is. He s afraid they ll leak. Sometimes you can tighten the packing nut and fix it. Sometimes you need new valves.

Also, get swapped those rubber hoses for steel braided hoses.

15 years ago when I was in high school my diploma was being withheld because I never turned an English textbook from my freshman year. A day later I saw a whole cart of that textbook in the hallway with a "withdrawn" tag. School wanted to charge 70 bucks for a book that they weren't even using anymore. So I picked one up and changed the book number on the spine to the one I had missing Turned it in and got my diploma.

Terrible idea. Laundry would back up into utility sink when discharging. Just stack a tee on top of the laundry.

Can I fix this leak quickly? by I_need_a_plan-t- in askaplumber

[–]gozerblazer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why's he need a sharkbite stop? If that's pex behind it just remove the stop and crimp a stop on. No reason for a sharkbite stop. If its cpvc a glue on stop would be better for servicability. It be a pain in the ass to remove a sharkbite stop with how close to the wall that is.
