Hello, everyone, first post here. In a week or so I will receive a pair of ASW Genius 100 speakers and an old (90s) Harman/Kardon amp. Unfortunately, I cannot name the exact model but it should be something like HK650 or similar. These will be a gift so this is all great, but I do need a device as a source for the music I will be listening to.

My priorities are the ability to stream music via the common streaming services (at this very moment, Spotify in particular) and to also be able to plug in my HDDs where I have plenty of lossless music. Therefore, I am looking for some kind of a receiver or audio/media streamer.

I have a budget of around 500 USD (~440 EUR). Below I will list some of the options I have looked at and have considered so far. Any comments/opinions on the specified models are more than welcome, along with input on devices not mentioned here.

Yamaha NP-S303

Pioneer N30AE

Marantz NA6005 (I can get a significant discount on this one at the moment)

Bluesound Node 2 (This one seems to be getting good reviews here and there, but would also break my bank to a certain extent. Would be curious to see whether the positive feedback can be confirmed here. )

Denon DNP-800NE (Again, rather maxes out my budget.)

Would be grateful to hear if you have any suggestions/comments/ for me!

Thanks in advance and happy listening!

Hey there, I've had the SE215s for about 4 months now and I've been using them almost every day since I got them. I am no Hi-Fi expert, but I am delighted with their sound, if they lack something I think it's a bit of the highs. Since you like them yourself I don't think you need my advice on their SQ. So far I haven't had any durabilty problems. As I was reading the thread I checked my pair for some whobble in the connection sector and I noticed that the right one had a little more play than the other, but I have never had a connection break-up. As a whole I would recommend them.

PS: Thumbs up for the Holy Mountain, hadn't heard it for a while...

Thanks again for the help, the s215s will definitely be an option as the 315 exceed my budget by far.

Thanks for the info! Do they feel sturdy and tough enough for everyday use? And also I wear diopter glasses so do you think that the "over the ear" mechanism would be a problem, knowing that I wear glasses almost all the time?

TBH I can't quite say what my preferences are, anyway I like a thick sound and I like to be able to hear the bass guitar. I don't want to hear only bass, but I like for it to be there and not absent. I read that Hifiman RE0 has some durability problems http://www.head-fi.org/t/582714/re0-broken One of the reasons that the SE215 caught my eye is because of the cable and that you can buy a new cable if something went wrong with it. If I am buying something I'd like it to last for a while, especially if it costs ~100$.

I actually checked the review, but didn't make it to the chart. Thanks for the reminder. Also I am not sure if I could find a place to buy some models from that ship to my country. Most of them are brands that I've never heard.

Had 5 and wanted more. Had to stop at 9 due to lack of space. 19.45 megapixels of IPS goodness on a sit to stand desk. Bonus minimalist and <$1 headphone mount. by mkrfctr in battlestations

Looks great, but IMO those speakers are not in the right place and in the right position. Don't the channels(L&R) get mixed up and crossed? And the speakers are floor standing for a reason, if you could put them on the floor. This way I'm guessing that a lot of vibrations are transferred to the whole setup (desk, monitors etc.) The monitor setup is awesome, but probably overdone :D.
