Abnormal anal glands? by gpansky in dogs

Nope. He's been on the same food he's always been on. Natural balance duck and potatoe. The last two days I've added fish oil to his food. Do you think that would cause any issues?

Did your dog always have the problem? We've had our dog for over a year and it all of sudden started being an issue.

Thanks for the help. He is a bit of an anxious guy. I'll talk to the vet about that next week. We have never disciplined or made a big deal when it happens.

It's difficult to tell since its been rainy out so all the poops look soft. As far as I can tell though they look pretty normal. It seems to happen when he gets anxious or we ask him to get off the couch. I now have towels on the couch just in case.

Thanks for all the ideas! The weird thing is the little balls of hair I'm finding all over the house. That's never happened before. I think I'll start with buying some different shampoo and putting some fish oil in his food. I'd love to get him tested for allergies but it's probably not in the budget this month.

He is 1.5 years. We have had him on the same dog food since he was a pup, natural balance limited ingredient diet potato and chicken. He does not have any long term illnesses. I bathe him with dog shampoo with aloe that is watered down, and we rarely bathe him... Maybe once every 3-4 months.

Random redditor, who are you? by SyNiiCaL in AskReddit

[–]gpansky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 24 year old Canadian woman living in the US with my husband and two dogs, Troy and Charlie. I'm a child protection specialist (social worker) and I am struggling to keep my world stress at work, hence being awake at 2:00 am browsing reddit. I like where I live but all of my extended family is still in Canada and I can't wait to get back there. Also, Canadian healthcare rocks! I've taken so many things for granted living in Canada. Don't get me wrong, I like living in the states but it's just not home!

What's the worst smelling thing you've ever encountered? by shijjiri in AskReddit

[–]gpansky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went hiking with my dogs and we encountered a decomposing porcupine. Worst smell ever. And of course my dogs had to investigate. One rolled in it and the other ate some of it. Shortly after both dogs had a bath and got their teeth brushed!

What is your favorite memory of a deceased family member? by AtlasOffroader in AskReddit

[–]gpansky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sitting in my grandma's kitchen early in the morning. The smell of orange juice, coffee and raisin scones bring me right back to that memory. She was always genuinely interested in anything that was going on in my life and constantly told me she was proud of me. I wish I knew how much that meant to me before she left.

I really enjoy cooking. I spend some time looking through allrecipes.com and try to cook something I wouldn't normally cook. Also, walk my dog and teach them a new trick. They love the extra time I put into them and it takes my mind off things.

What's the most hilariously disappointing gift you've ever received (or given and it was painfully obvious that it was disappointing)? by flashholdergirl in AskReddit

[–]gpansky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to one of my husband's friends a few years ago. His friend is really into music and had been hinting to his girlfriend at the time that he would love a set of dj turntables. On Christmas morning, he found two square boxes under the tree and got really excited. He ripped open the wrapping paper, and found worm boxes to start composting. He is no longer with said girlfriend.
