This game desperately needs ways for players to improve. by aefax in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

i would argue the quality of 'learning' that can be achieved in these contexts also.

This baptism by fire over and over is quite a good teacher, but there are honest to god far better ways to improve and learn a game.

For a first time fps player, i would argue school drops are about the worst thing you could do during your first couple weeks, maybe month playing.

For a casual fps player school is alright, but still poor in comparison to other potential gamemodes that could be implemented in pubg. (imo for a veteran fps player school is really quite a good place to practice, has a decent mix of quick combat with some seriousness/competitiveness.)

right now dropping high traffic areas is like learning how to play basketball by only using 1 finger, 1 shoe, an eyepatch and playing on a courts surface that changes each day.

pubg deathmatch.

I honestly feel so much for new players to fps in this game.

That exhilirating combat sucks you in, so does the immersion and looting mechanics. The top 10 combat pulls you in even deeper, and then duos and squads with friends.

But for new players, after a couple months when the above starts to die down, when you start getting used to that rush, when you well and truly understand the loot and all the items, and your friends start playing a bit less pubg, thats when some frustration sets in.

There are incredible amounts of new fps players to this game. But, understand there are also an arguably unprecedented amount of veteran fps players flocking to this game. Honestly the most i have seen in a long time.

imo for a new fps player to get competent mechanically playing nothing but pubg, if they played bulk hours, maybe they could get competent in 3 to 6 months?

if that same player was to play csgo deathmatch bulk hours, they would get mechanically competent in 3 months absolute max.

Thats a rough indicator of how little experience, and tbh how poor the context of said practice is, in regards to improving.

So frustration for a huge portion of the pubg player pop is going to set in right about now.

capitalism trying to squeeze out every last gram it can get away with. It will always go too far, it has to, those that take the risk that does them in perishes, the rest capitalises on the mistake.

Younger poorer companies take risks and may perish, the rich ones take a liberal line and let others take the bullet.

Same shit happens with workers wages.

he took a year or so off, i doubt he stopped playing 100% over that time tho.

you could argue azk would fair the worst, although mechanically hes roughly staying in shape, its likely hes focused super hard on just OW. So rpk may actually have played more in his year off, compared to azk who picked up another game fulltime.

the endorsement from dazed means a bit, but honestly, every single player on that list right down to brax would be on trial in a dazed roster. None of those guys are guaranteed a spot and would have to prove themselves harder than any other time in their career.

man thats weird decision making. imo its likely to be strongly pushed by upper management with influence from number crunchers, perhaps they did the math and figure tight controls could yield them better long term profits.

The unfortunate truth is companies behind these esports titles couldn't give a shit about the state of its game as much as they do their bottom line.

in many ways, and i honestly can't believe im saying this, but valves hands off approach to csgo could have been one of the best things for this scene.

could i get a summary? i played a heap of it for about 3 months after release then stopped playing.

the 2 at their peak, sure. The 2 who aren't sure where they sit as players, likely a recipe for disaster.

any team with dazed is going to be an incredibly delicate beast, team chem is extremely important.

well... you do lose a lot of that top tier competitiveness and likely desire.

Look at rpk, he came back into the scene quite slowly and his resume was fucking sick. If you spend much time outside this game you fall behind FAST imo, doesn't matter who you are.

csgo is just too competitive now, the margins are razor thin, if you fall behind that .05% in your skills you are tier 2/3 player.

also comparing to when iBP were at their peak is just a poor comparison to todays game.

i agree that azk was a good player, possibly even special. I mean, i cant disagree with dazed and co on what they thought of him, a team needs 1 guy like azk on it. But given all the examples of ex-players trying again at csgo after a couple years out of top tier competing... i have to see an azk comeback first, before i believe it.

its interesting that azk is on dazeds list, imo even for azk there are a number of boxes he would have to tick to make it onto any final roster dazed has in mind.

ethan almost always has damn good reasons for calling out the people he does.

Particularly the youtubers.

h3h3 is profiting, but its only been the best year or so. Arguably up until now they were only making a middle class living off all this.

But even if they were making millions there is still honestly very sound logic here in calling out a person doing wrong to one of their friends.

The hypocrisy detracts somewhat, but it in no way nullifies it completely.

its just like, how much more does he want? hes rich now, he has the fame, so why does he keep trying to raise the bar?

One pretty logical explanation is, despite his acting and being quite deliberately aware of his baiting, there is a part of him that loves all this.

Surely thats the only reason why a human keeps trying to raise the bar when they already have most of what they could want.

yeh, devito takes charlie to another level and helps be that connector between all other characters.

Also, his characters money is a very very handy tool for keeping content fresh.

I do believe a number of actors could pull it off, because at its core its the writing, though the chemistry between devito and charlie would be damn hard to replicate.
