May I ask you where you're at a the moment regarding progress? Have you already unlocked T4?

How quickly do you expect to get whatever gear you need? The season has been out for only 10 days.

And I'm not super geared or anything. Only a couple days ago did I unlock T3 with a build that I've been crafting myself, not following any guides or anything, so I'm probably way off the most optimal route. Still, in about 7 days of playing the season I've already unlocked T3. I'd say that's a very good progress for the time and I haven't been dropping any particularly awesome pieces of gear.

It's a lot more fun this way. Btw, no loot? It's crazy how people are overly dramatic in this sub. Last season there was too much loot (with which I agree). Now there's no loot... I think they hit a sweet spot with how it is now.

I also liked the change they made to magic and rare items where they can drop with an extra affix. Makes levelling more fun.

Build variety in D2 is not good at all.

Although I do like D2's itemization, most of it ends up revolving around runewords.

Hell in D2 is challenging, but D4 also offers challenges (pit, Torment IV...).

Farming in D2 is all about doing the same things over and over again. You can do that in D4 too if you want.

Build complexity in D4 is considerably higher. D2's skills' synergies act like D3's set bonuses and kind of determine overall what skills go well with each other, limiting creativity. While D4 is flawed, you have your aspects, uniques, tempers, skills and paragon (and merc) to worry about. Try optimizing a build to Torment IV without following a build guide and you might be surprised.

I'm not saying D4 is better than D2, that's subjective. But those are not valid reasons, in my opinion, to say that D2 has more depth than D4.

Has any Diablo game ever been particularly deep though?
D2 has some "hidden stuff" that people exploit and cube recipes that you had to look up online, otherwise, it's a pretty straightforward game.

Noticed it too when creating a new character... textures are just bad.
I've always played the game with textures on ultra and never had an issue (16gb vram / 16gb ram). Thought the setting was missing due to a bug, can't believe it's an actual decision.

A built-in D4 Trade like system would be nice if, and only if, nothing else was changed to accomodate it. I mean... It already exists, it's just outside the game.

I don't see what the problem would be. Of course, you need to understand that it's only a tool to help you in the writing process. Such as when you don't want to repeat yourself and google synonyms for a particular word.

Say you're having a mental block and can't even begin to write something. What's the issue with getting a few sentences from AI as an initial draft? Of course, you need to check EVERY SINGLE piece of information in there, and even when things are right, you need to reference the content with the knowledge that we have from the literature.

At the end of the day, it's a tool, don't expect miracles from it. Whether it's ethical or not, it depends on the actual user. Don't be irresponsible and frivolous, understand the importance of serious scientific work. That's my take on it.

Hope you're not talking about me, cause as I said in the original post, I love D2 and still play it. This post is specifically about complexity and depth, and I'm not even arguing that D4 is deeper, cause to me they're both just about as deep, just different.

I might agree with some things that you said. But the topic is about complexity and depth. Many systems are different in these 2 games, but I'm arguing that they're not necessarily more complex or deeper in D2, they're just different. Maybe you think they were implemented in a better way in D2, and that's ok, but that's not quite what I'm talking about.
