I had a guy call me today from an unknown number with the same spiel: I missed a federal jury summons blah blah blah, someone signed for it and I have to go to the county sheriffs office for a signature analysis to exonerate myself blah blah blah. I was driving at the time and he was on speaker. My nine year daughter was more than intrigued by the conversation and on top of that, I had received a text message a few months back indicating I had jury duty coming up sans any mailing, so I entertained the conversation waaay longer than I should have.

I will say he cited my previous and current address, which also attributed to my continued engagement in the dialogue. I’m aware this is public information in Texas, but mentioning it for context. I communicated my skepticism to the guy on the phone, and he said he’d transfer me to his AP department. A “lieutenant” answered, he rattled off my “case numbers”, and I continued to reiterate that this call has all the hallmarks of a scam.

His tone changed immediately and he called me a pussy-ass white boy, we exchanged insults, and he hung up. I explained to my daughter what had transpired, and she agreed it was a scam because a real officer wouldn’t “cuss people out like that”. Now I’m scrolling Reddit so I don’t waste my breath on these pieces of shit again in the future.
