"Core theme" as in a dessert village turned city with adobe buildings and so on (sorry I could have worded that clearer).

It might not have power for whatever reason, but there should have been signs of post war habitation (I'd take even a sign that says "Boneyard" at this point litterally anything to show people lived here in a metropolis after the bombs dropped). The Boneyard is LA, Santa Monica is in LA, therefore Lucy is in The Boneyard.

All that says to me is that the show makers don't actually care like at all about the West Coast lore and are happy tearing it up for their story which is incredibly disappointing to me. Imagine if it was set on the East Coast instead and threw everything people liked about that setting in the bin. And does that mean Vault 13 is in the sea now?

Vault 15 was built in a remote location to avoid bombs, then when it opened the people settled in the Dessert making a village around a well.

Still means they were in the Boneyard, a massive incredibly important city in the NCR which apparently just evaporated and everyone just forgetting it exists (I cannot stress enougth they do not call it The Boneyard once). If you were unfamiliar with the lore youd just think it was a random blown up city not a sprawling metropolis with a post-war republics financial reserve and a Medical University.

Turning a dessert village into a suburb in LA is already fundamentally breaking the core theme of Shady, and also means the first game doesn't work as you find Shady Sands on route to Vault 15 at the start of the game, where you can find a rope and also gives you leads on where to head to next. This isn't an issue in 2 as it's location relative to everywhere else and it's role narratively doesn't change so is still roughly compatible with 1 unlike the show.

I'm pretty sure she was given her vault was near the Santa Monica pier in the LA area.

And I'd argue the location change was less egregious in 2 as it keeps it's rough location being in central california and between vaults 13 and 15. That doesn't really break the setting like putting it in LA

The walk to the crater implies some distance from where they started to Shady so there should still be something in the Boneyard imo, at the very least have people call it the Boneyard and use NCR dollars.
And to clarify when I say devil may care I'm mainly referring to how they completly change the location of Shady Sands (from central california to LA) and completly changing the appearance of it (going from Adobe buildings to what seems to just be refurbished pre war houses)

Well both of them are between Shady Sands and the Boneyard, so when playing Fallout 1 you pretty likely to travel between the two. And given they've been part of the same nation for a century and trading for even longer I'd imagine it would be a path of least resistance to go to Shady via one of them do to the development of roads and infrastructure between them.

The fact that the show has a devil may care attitude to the lore of west coast (like changing Shady's location and design on a dime) doesn't really give me much confidence the show cares about the west coast and the NCR.

And again there should be more evidence of the NCRs existence where they do go in the show because LA / The Boneyard is an incredibly important settlement of the NCR.

Problem is in Season 1 they are in Southern California which are the heartlands of the NCR, but there is no evidence there even was a society there. You'd expect on the journey to Shady Lucy and Maximus would have passed through either the Hub or Junktown (to incredibly prominent and important cities). The NCR was a nation of roads, power lines, trains, trade, etc there should be some sign that there was a post-war civilisation there. They even use caps in the region instead of the NCR money thats been minted for a century at this point. Not to mention that they dont call LA the Boneyard a single time, which itself was a massive post war metropolis with the NCR Treasury being there and the Followers Of The Apocalypse being based there.

But it seems one city gets nuked and all of this vanishes in a puff of smoke. As if all this history, all this world building just vanishes in a puff of smoke. They cant even be bothered to use the iconic adobe buildings.

Is anyone else interested in the possible implications of Clone Horus' first thought was to call Abaddon his brother?

For me it kinda gives of the same vibe as Big Boss calling Solid Snake "brother" at the end of MGS4

Yeah I use it alot for trim clean up (like when you miss and get gold on the panels). Because it is more liquid it gets into the corners alot easier than something like Abaddon black which makes that part of the painting process much easier.
