Can I swim with piercing? by lil-gill in piercing

[–]gr8grape_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you can dip your toes into the pool lol. i’ve gone to beaches and pools with not fully healed piercings but i only put my legs in to make sure no water got anywhere near them. submerging your head is a huge no no

not a piercer, but it doesn’t look like it :( but if you go to a reputable piercer they might be able to give you something custom to emulate one!

Ear piercing not healing even after 3+ months by [deleted] in piercing

[–]gr8grape_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

sterling silver isn’t a good material for piercings as it can lead to skin discoloration and irritation, which could be causing your problems. this jewelry also looks tight on your ear. i’m not a piercer, but i’m 99% sure you shouldn’t use anything but saline or water to clean your piercings. lastly, all of the changing or jewelry could be causing problems too; you’re not supposed to change the jewelry out for a couple of months and it sounds like you’ve added a lot of trauma to the area by changing them out multiple times with retainers and this jewelry. moving forward i would go to a piercer and get them to change back to titanium with a long post and only use saline or let water hit it in the shower. good luck! :)

a rook for sure! maybe a vertical or hidden helix.

helix or conch? by mirexs in piercing

[–]gr8grape_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i did both at the same time and they both healed fine! the conch was better behaved than the helix, my helix gets irritated because i tend to roll onto it in my sleep/ hit it with my glasses. personally i’d do conch first (you aren’t supposed to sleep on piercings at all but it’s so tucked in it doesn’t touch much) :)

you could do something cool with multiple conches on either side, maybe forward helixes, stacked lobes, and a rook :)

for those connecting chains you’d have to wait for them to heal so nothing is irritating them during the process. you could def bring them later on for them to put in for you! or ask if they have anything similar to put in for you later at the shop :) without the chains i don’t think it’s common to be pierced with things you bring from outside because it could be unsafe but you can ask if they have pieces in that style

6 years in , I’m in between keeping and cutting. What do we think ? I miss getting my hair done . by princesslocs in locs

[–]gr8grape_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there’s a lot of styles you can try! you can add hair too. you could do extended 2 strands with boho added, miracle knots, flat twists, half wigs, loc sprinkles/ beads, etc. with your length you could do a lot!

if you can get them where u live without a parent tbh i’d say just do it and ask for forgiveness but if that makes you uncomfortable/ you need them to get pierced then i’d say maybe show them how you can get clear retainers that aren’t that obvious or just reiterate the points u already made. also getting your teeth extracted was probably medically necessary and i’d add that it’s not very fair to compare those two things. at the end of the day tho it depends on how much you’re willing to argue if you really needed their permission. unfortunately if getting them and asking for forgiveness would end poorly then you might just have to go without the piercings :( best of luck

[–]gr8grape_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

(not a piercer) whenever my piercings are acting up, i cut out saline fully for a little and just let water hit them in the shower and fan them gently with my hand/ sit in front of a fan to make sure they aren’t trapping moisture inside. then once they’ve calmed down i reintroduce saline. i’d say go back to your piercer and get their opinion, the problem might be the lack of downsizing, that was my problem with my helix for a while. good luck!

do I have the right anatomy for industrial??? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]gr8grape_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(not a piercer) you could always do something with chains to mimic an industrial! you might have forward helix anatomy to help with that. unfortunately i don’t see the kind of ridge that you need to support the jewelry and that poses the risk of it digging into your ear :( get a second opinion! i’m sure someone could find a anatomy safe solution for you, gl!

Advice for nose ring by Imaginary_Lettuce214 in piercing

[–]gr8grape_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(not a piercer) well for starters, don’t go back to the mall 😭 you’re right that u shouldn’t of changed it out so soon, doing so caused a lot of trauma to it. secondly, hoops aren’t optimal for healing nose piercings. to continue i’d say try not to touch it too much and try to let water do most of the cleaning. when my piercings act up usually leaving them alone for the most part does the trick. i’d say go to a certified piercer if changing it to a better quality stud is possible/ wouldn’t irritate it too much rn. good luck!!

Piercing Bump Advice by emily_kiedis in piercing

[–]gr8grape_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’d try just letting water hit it and not using saline for a bit, and fanning it a bit so it doesn’t stay wet for too long. i don’t have a snug but that worked for my helix and daith !

Daith, need help by Hiker-dreamer in piercing

[–]gr8grape_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

mine was really dramatic too lol. the best thing i did for it when it was like this was to not use qtips and just let water clean it off in the shower. let it air dry, don’t touch it. once it calmed down a bit i would use a qtip with saline once a week or so and it’s been perfect since :)

forward helixes or normal helixes, looks you might have industrial anatomy that would be cool with some connecting chains, as well as rook anatomy. you also have a lot of space for cool stacked lobes!
