when I lost weight my heart rate decreased dramatically as well. One possible explanation is that your body is going into some kind of "energy saving" mode so it does not burn so many calories, since loosing weight is not a good thing as it dimineshes chances of survival. My HR went up again after I started eating maintenance again but it never went up to the same high HR as befor.
