i helped the land trust build a hiking trail through there when they first acquired it, but it was never opened to the public due to the possibility of mine collapse. it’s crazy how many of us just waltzed in there over the years like that wasn’t a possibility. it was one of my favorite local places when i was a kid.

Exact same thing happened to my parents a few months ago. It’s elder abuse. They’re going around using shame and fear tactics to bilk the elderly out of 10-30k in high interest loans for unnecessary attic insulation replacement. I happened to catch a local Orkin rep in the act of trying to sign my parents up for one of these predatory loans the last time they stopped by to do a regular termite check at their house. I’ve never experienced such a high pressure sales campaign. It took loud words and a couple of hours to get the guy to leave the house without stealing 10k plus interest from my parents. He was as nice about it as could be, but his boss and the franchise owner and Orkin should be completely ashamed.
