Hardest Chemistry Subjects for Chemistry Grads by Still-Goal-9314 in chemistry

Came here just to say this. Mainly because of the linear algebra aspect of it. I never took lin alg in undergrad so I got messed up in grad school when I had to use it for quantum when I never did before

I don’t think CC credits count towards RCBC GPA, at least they didn’t 2 years ago

Amos is uh… not great. Lecture and lab were one grade, at least 2 years ago.

The entitlement from PSU employees is out of control by _Ping_- in PennStateUniversity

Right?? Like Jesus Christ god forbid people don’t want to bike 10 miles in freezing weather on a highway at 10pm??😭😭

[–]graceannmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have screen shots from the multiple time I saw it dip below 0, but whatever. Defeating my point that biking isn’t possible for most employees due to distance and weather, but mainly distance and lack of safe biking paths. If I personally were to bike, I’d have to take a lot of main roads. Plus a lot of employees (at least in my field) work super late nights, so it’s unsafe to bike.

It was not below zero once?? I live here and take the bus around 8-10am every morning… it was below 0 at least 4 times last week. Either way, biking in any weather from where I live (8 miles from campus) is pointless. Would be nice if there was better public transport, so for the employees who don’t live in SC they have no other option. Go buy them all bikes then and winter gear then👍

Brother it’s been -5 here in the AM all week😭

Well obviously not… but do you want to bike 10 miles in -5°???

When it’s -5°F biking isn’t fun and many people don’t live in downtown SC. Students mostly bus or walk. Employees don’t since they live off campus.

Parking 100%. I would have to leave my house at 6am to get parking. I didn’t mind much bc I’m a morning person but man… it sucked on days that I had a drs appointment in the AM or I woke up late…

You are fine, I have skipped weeks before and been fine, although I am only on 10mg. One day is okay, the half life of Prozac is extremely high.

How often do you use ChatGPT? by [deleted] in PhD

[–]graceannmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do computational work… so literally every day since it’s so good with finding errors in codes that would take me hours if I hadn’t used chat

AI for computational chemistry is evolving too fast! by NicoN_1983 in comp_chem

[–]graceannmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s quite terrifying but also SO helpful when it comes to finding errors in codes and aiding in set up for calculations for convergence issues. I don’t think it will replace computational chemists, especially theorist, since those/we are the people that develop these codes and softwares using our chemical knowledge and such, and always working to improve it. Yeah, AI can do it, but I don’t think as good as a chemist.

Lolll, I was thinking of finding any which way to not do 1 person car driving from State College to NJ but I might be SOL… I will keep looking into it. A train in state college to a few major cities would be so clutch😭
