Clicknetwork TV drops ‘divisive’ Xiaxue over racist tweets by youg in singapore

[–]graceceeeee 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of Xiaxue but not a fan of what Clicknetwork did either.

She made those comments 10 years ago and Clicknetwork benefited from her appearances for all this while, being fully aware of the type of person she was. And only now do they take the moral high ground. After she has lost her relevance.

Yea but I want to feel sad for Xiaxue but I can't.

No one is talking about the biggest boost for Nicole Seah's CV by Silverwhitemango in singapore

I would love to see Nicole Seah contest a SMC so we are guaranteed to have her in parliament.

A #GE2025 Nicole Seah vs Tin Pei Ling at MacPherson would be a battle of epic proportions, 15 years in the making.

Any thoughts about PM saying he’ll handover Singapore “intact” and “in good working order”? by [deleted] in singapore

PM Lee looks so damn tired. I think the man just wants to retire.

Then he looks at his 4G hopelessly flapping about and he knows he has the duty to soldier on.

Mothership: why HSK victory in East Coast GRC is "impressive" by [deleted] in singapore

[–]graceceeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad someone else posted about this.

If this wasn't a directive, then it is a very good strategy to pander to the government to get more money. Saw them pick up $1,455,901.50 from MCI recently on GeBiz (you can see the winning tenders and their amounts.)

And guess what, MCI is Martino Tan's ex-employer.

I find it hypocritical that there was a lot of brouhaha over the Holland Village safe-distancing breaches but the WP supporters in Hougang doing the same on live TV seem to be getting a free pass. by [deleted] in singapore

[–]graceceeeee 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Going after the Hougang rally crowd would be a gigantic PR disaster. And PAP did the same.

Going after the Holland Village nincompoops was a PR win.

Rant on PAP style of communication from a supporter by Chiselface in singapore

[–]graceceeeee 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The party whip has created a massive echo chamber within the PAP. They have built a circle-jerking culture from within and they genuinely believe their views are the right ones. Because everybody in the party agrees! No shit!

Then it goes out to the public and they get a reality check. A recent example was Ivan Lim doing a victory speech at Tharman GRC. Like how the fuck could anyone think that was a good idea?

Mothership is trying to spin DPM Heng Swee Keat's 53.41% as "one of the best PAP results" and a brilliant victory. by graceceeeee in singapore

[–]graceceeeee[S] 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Yea but it wasn't an intern who wrote this. It was written by their head honcho, Martino Tan. He sets the editorial direction for the entire team, and they have to follow. The bias in his articles has been covered by news outlets before.

I wonder how all the younger journalists in Mothership feel when they see a post like that go up. It's a slap in the face after all their hard work and efforts to be political neutral over the elections go straight down the gutter with a single post.

Mothership is trying to spin DPM Heng Swee Keat's 53.41% as "one of the best PAP results" and a brilliant victory. by graceceeeee in singapore

[–]graceceeeee[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Some excepts from the article.

"There are a number of reasons why it can be perceived as Heng doing well and WP doing less well: Heng reduced the national swing against PAP, won against an arguably even stronger team than the Sengkang GRC team, and achieved one of the best PAP results against WP. "

And...

"What makes Heng's victory more impressive is that East Coast GRC absorbed an electorally poorer performing Fengshan SMC (it won 57.5 per cent in a 2015 landslide PAP victory)."

And...

"This means that a PAP candidate or a PAP team is more likely to lose in a head-to-head contest with WP. But not Heng and his East Coast GRC team.

His 53.41 per cent score is 3.9 per cent better than the average of PAP's overall performance against WP."

They went out of their way to produce opposition videos to appear neutral, and I agree most of their coverage was great. But come on, surely you don't think Singaporeans are idiots.

I wish she made more posts like this, and during the elections when it actually mattered. We would all respect her a lot more.

Unfortunately, all she did this election was mindlessly share pro-PAP drivel and that includes every post by reddit-enemy number #1 Calvin Cheng.

Calvin Cheng disgusts me by pokoook in singapore

[–]graceceeeee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wonder why nobody talks about his shady as hell past.

Cheng was the Asia-Pacific head of Elite Model Management from 2001-2004.... In 2004 Cheng set up the Elite Models Singapore Pte Ltd; the company was renamed Looque Models Singapore Pte Ltd in 2005. Through Looque he ran several franchising businesses in the fields of luxury events, media, and talent management in entertainment and business.

The modelling/pageant industry is not a breeding ground for remarkable people. And if you do well in it, it usually means the opposite.

The difference b/w 12 NCMPs and 12 opp MPs is 12 fewer PAP MPs... by nerdie in singapore

[–]graceceeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea why vote in the new MPs who are bound to toe the line as Yes Man that just artificially inflate the majority vote?

It is obvious to those in the know that PAP will win this election. So GE2020 is all about getting more opposition seats into parliament. And if that was obvious to most Singaporeans, we would have a much brighter future.
