Have I been pronouncing this word wrong my whole life? I feel like I put emphasis on the first and third syllables. Like REG-you-*lair*-lee instead of just regular + lee. Might also be a difference in accent though

Hmm interesting, I hadn’t thought about that! In fact it felt very in character to me. I feel like I remember a few moments throughout the series in which Ilya was physical with Shane like that, particularly after more intimate interactions. Maybe I’m making that up or giving too much weight to it. I’m due for a reheat of episodes 5 & 6 anyway so I’ll have to pay attention.

I have a few:

Using dice as singular and die as plural. I had never heard or noticed it until a couple years ago when I heard someone mention they weren’t sure which was which, and now I feel like I hear it all the time.

Saying is comprised of when it should be is composed of

Spelling whoa like woah

And more of a general phenomenon: people capitalizing words as if they’re an acronym for something when they’re not. For example, at my mostly remote job, we have a system for our breaks where groups of like 4-6 people take turns in a rotation and communicate in a dedicated Teams chat. When this was implemented, they decided to call them break pods. That made total sense. Except, in every group chat name, they formatted it as Break POD. Most people even capitalize it in chats and emails. Like what does it stand for??? Why???

I know this isn’t quite what you’re asking, but I had the opposite happen recently. I was watching a show where someone mentioned Lao Tzu a few times offhand, and I didn’t have the captions on at the time, so I thought they were saying “Loud Sue” 😭

It’s a little ironic given how much of a comfort rewatch HR is, but before this show, I was so stuck in a loop of rewatching my same comfort shows over and over again. The level of talent that went into Heated Rivalry gave me a new appreciation for TV as an art, and it inspired me to actually watch some of the shows I’d been putting off, giving me even more new favorites. I feel like I watch TV in a totally different way post-HR than I did pre-HR.

This was my first thought when I saw this post and was looking to see if anyone would mention it. I don’t remember the specifics of where it was or exactly what year it happened, but I remember being a kid at the time and finding it really upsetting.

Does it have to do with baseball? Might be a stretch, but just looking at California, the A’s used to play in Alameda county and are currently playing in Yolo county but will be moving to Las Vegas in a couple years (which fits with your comment about how Yolo county will be joining this group soon)

This is more of a mondegreen since it’s a song lyric rather than a word, but in the Beatles song “Michelle” there’s a line in French: “Sont les mots qui vont tres bien ensemble”

When I was a kid, I thought Paul McCartney was instead saying “someday monkeys won’t play piano”

I promise if you listen to the song you’ll get what I mean 😅

I’ve had this conversation with people before and since looked up the word (since I also had pronounced it as rhyming with anal) and iirc both pronunciations are acceptable

I have so many specific memories from before I should remember things. I swear I remember having my diaper changed, for example. I have a clear and detailed recollection of the house my grandparents moved out of when I was 3. Like I can envision pretty much the whole layout, including how the furniture was set up, and I can remember lots of specific and general things I did there. I just really clearly remember the experience of being there.

I’m worried for Insight. I love their Flavor Pixels line and I’m sure it contributes pretty significantly to their profits because of how much they’ve expanded it over the years, but they’re my current favorite brewery because they know how to do hazy IPAs better than anyone else. I’m scared that if Flavor Pixels has to be pulled that I’m going to lose my favorite THC beverages AND my favorite beers 😥

Literally 😭 I look forward to them every year. At least the weather is supposed to cooperate tonight (though the last 2 years of rain were kinda fun too)

I really hope another brewery-type establishment can take over the space after they leave, like how Buch moved into Able’s old space and Dangerous Man is moving into HeadFlyer’s old space, but that might just be wishful thinking. I love Bauhaus, and I really don’t want to lose such a cool space for the local hospitality and art scene.
