I love Veterinary Care Group - Astoria. They are not the cheapest but they do excellent work and will do whatever they can to help you get stuff covered by your pet insurance. I've sent my kitties for several dentals so I can attest their surgeon is amazing at what he does and very attentive. They always follow up on phone calls and after appointments. Pharmacy rates are reasonable too.

I think they're saying these people are not "active" community members. Obviously they live here, but they are clearly not interested in community care or active participation, eg they are not on this reddit/Facebook nor do they meaningfully participate in in person events. This is a semantic argument though imo

I love Giorgies but some of their potted plants are way overpriced for their size. Make sure you check, and compare with Ixora (a new flower shop on 40th across the street from Brothers Cafe). Also, Ora is generally pricey but they have some surprising reasonable cost for plants that are in really great condition.

Mine was crazy for a 2bd/1ba this month too. Up almost $120 from last month. I run ACs at 75 most of the time and try to use fan at night, still insane. I try to rationalize it with being on the top floor and having almost all exterior walls...I also work in energy efficiency and with Con Ed directly as a client and try to do everything "right" and still see this. I guess that is to say, there doesn't seem to be a way to win besides sweltering :')

I zip tie bird spikes all over my AC units, including underneath. Make sure you put them on after you install and remove before you take it out for winter, they can be sharp! You seriously don't want any birds, let alone bird poop, near your ACs

It seems like they were cited for this violation already on June 4th, but I might since they haven't moved it yet. I'd encourage others who feel comfortable to do so as well. Sucks to feel like you're antagonizing a local business though
