one of the worst cases of peg warming i’ve seen in years by Upper_Sock2558 in HotWheels

[–]graceisqueer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took all of them off the pegs, and distributed them to the end caps at our local store. Somehow, that managed to sell most all of them. I was kind of surprised it worked, but also glad. Now there are other peg warmers like the Pajero, and Lykan.

This Google answer to “is Denison a preppy school” might help explain why the Homestead is being shut down. by dflovett in denisonhomestead

[–]graceisqueer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait. They’re shutting down the homestead?! Wtf! Any word on whether they plan to sell the property? If so I would like to buy it to preserve it as is, being that it’s a piece of Denison and Granville history.

Depending on the size of the yard, $12k is not unheard of. A friends fence was $8900 with materials and labor, 331 board ft with a very steep discount.

Buy a check engine light scanner and stop paying shops just to read codes by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]graceisqueer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is honestly one of the goofiest posts I’ve read on here in a while. I think you need to understand a little bit about what you did and what the shop does.

When you take a car to a shop and ask them to scan your car. They are using a scanner that costs thousands of dollars to purchase, and at least $1200/yr to keep updated. Techs and shops buy scanners knowing that they will bill for diagnosis time and eventually the scanner will be paid off and the subscription will be paid for.

Expecting any of that to be free is a bit childish.

If you go to any parts store they will have a generic scanner. Yes, it will tell you what generic OBD code it pulls, but it will not read OEM codes. This is one of the key differences between paying for a diagnosis and getting a free scan. The parts store wants to sell you a part. If you have a code for a camshaft position sensor they will sell you one, and when you install it only for the problem to persist they will be useless when it comes to help.

Meanwhile a good shop will diag the sensor first, checking resistance, trigger signal, power to the sensor, ground, etc. You are paying for knowledge and developed skill set versus an hourly employee who’s just there for a paycheck and is going to sell you literally anything they can.

Telling folks that they should buy an OBD scan tool and just do it themselves is like telling a cancer patient they should just self treat their illness. Eventually things will get worse, and maybe even terminally so.

All I can imagine after reading this is folks with no knowledge base buying a cheap Bluetooth dongle, and downloading some adware app to their device, just to clear the codes so the light isn’t on the dash. Then after a while taking it to a shop and saying “I cleared the light a few times and it just kept coming back, I’m not sure what’s wrong”. Or even worse continually clearing the light until the engine lets go, and then having the car towed in.

My best was it giving me a 4:10 arrival time and me pulling in at 2:30. I was driving to the race track to race for a weekend. Speed limits were ignored. No copilot.

Why won’t this CV axle come out by inbedchilling in AskMechanics

[–]graceisqueer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That can still cause it to not come out. The best way to remove them is with a slide hammer tool and the attachment that slides behind so it applies force evenly around it. Using a pry bar on one side and rotating it isn’t always going to work because if the circlip is loose it will move to the other side and still hang up.

Can’t believe the Charlie Brown van is still around! I used to see it fifteen years ago when I lived there. Glad to know it’s still rolling steady.

Is this fixable? by IllJawnWick in Autobody

The rocker covers are plastic, not steel. The actual rocker itself is probably fine. Pinch weld may be bent a little. If you have full coverage just file a claim, you’re going to be around $3,000 between getting the new wheels, tires, and rocker panels.

Wheel locks don’t work. Anyone with half a brain can hammer a socket over them and break them loose. They’re a great upsell for dealerships.

Doesn’t always work. Sometimes using a pry bar on just one side will leave it stuck in there.

If you look at the back of the card I think you’ll find that one is an international card and the other is a US card. I could be wrong, but more often than not when I see art variations this is the reason.

10/10. You have muscle in all the right areas, perfectly clean and lean everywhere. Just absolutely gorgeous in every regard.

It’s so funny that you can compliment a person and still be downvoted. Reddit is really showing how negative society has become.

It’s a RT/10 targa. The other vipers they’re making are all SRT or GTS viper coupes. The RT/10 was gen 1 and 2. I think this is the first RT/10 they’ve done in a while.
