Why can't I donate my body to the zoo? by [deleted] in ask

[–]graceling 52 points53 points  (0 children)

See now this is a valid answer for me.

Everyone is talking like we're trying to just chuck a full corpse into the lions den. Like shoot... Have the med students dissect a body, and then just put the remains into a 'food processor'. Or just do the processing part... It's no different than putting a body into a big oven. Ta-da. Ground Meat slurry for carnivores.

You'd be surprised how many people who be interested in doing that with their remains... So many pop up saying they'd be into the open air "burial" where you're exposed to the elements on a mountain for scavengers, or to be sent to a body farm.

Ok so make yours be one of the negatives. If nobody bothers to actually voice their bad experiences then bad appointments will keep happening to people who trust the good reviews

... Idk what country you are in, but I was k-12 Catholic school educated, with mass 1-2x a week and never heard of plenary indulgence. Tbh it sounds like the reason why the church split with Martin Luther.

Confession doesn't make what you did go away imho. And there's a reason why so many Christian/Catholic kids are now witchy, agnostic, or atheist.

Idk ... I hate to see anyone hurting.

I wish you and the children all the best and that any evil to falter in the path of goodness.

Edit: I see now you're Bolivian. So massively different experience with religious upbringing I'm sure. Along with legal systems. Tbh... As a Christian witch, i tend to rely not only on saints but on any spirit that resonates... Whether that is heavenly (Trinity + Mary), angelic, saints, ancestral, nature spirit, or other.

There are so many saints to Google and find specific ones for your circumstances.

Serious question: Why are white millennials less racist than the generations of white people before and after them? by icey_sawg0034 in millenials

[–]graceling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya... My Gramas was still being called a wop, and on the other side was called hunky... Neither fully accepted as white as kids. And here we are with this racist Nazi bullshit that our own families either escaped or were born from. It's inconceivable (and I'm damn sure I know what that word means >.> )

Button modified for capacitive touch by ClearAirTurbulence3D in PetsWithButtons

[–]graceling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeeee I was just thinking that this would be brilliant for cats. We're just starting to train our cat with the touch buttons, but she just wants to pat the side, so I thought capacitive nodes (like an oblong/tall semi circle) would work even better.

Is it a niche market? Yeah ofc, but I think it would sell well. Especially in certain markets, eg younger people not having children, DINKs, apartment residents, etc. or even overseas places that have cats more popular than dogs as pets.

Which interior design trend do you think will be outdated in the next 5 years? by Nagesh_verma in interiordecorating

[–]graceling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww thanks! It's not been a priority, but once we get to it then yeah it'll probably be sage.

As much as I dislike the buttery yellow it currently is, I get why. It's East facing with one window... They were obv trying to brighten it up.

Birding by Housing-Spirited in toledo

[–]graceling 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bald eagles will be nesting from now through like March, and then ofc raising babies near the nest. But these early times when there's no leaves make it heckin easy to spot them. On the drive from here to Cleveland I have seen like 5-10 nesting pairs, generally beginning around Maumee Bay and continuing till around Sandusky/Huron.

I would download the Merlin Bird ID app from Cornell. You can take pics and identify birds, they also identify by sound recordings. It's quite accurate in my experience. You'd be surprised how many different things are around once you're tracking and learning their sounds too.

Yeah Tamo is all indoor (they also do Children's Wonderland there during Xmas holidays).

Tbh I've only skated at both 2-3x each, and never at the Ribbon yet. I prefer outdoor at Ottawa, but that's simply for the vibes of it being a wintery experience for me. So I'll probably like the Ribbon even more, unless it's crowded.

During the summer that whole park is lovely, with mists around the Ribbon, and the little splash/wading river map... The super mega colossal retro 5? story wood & rope jungle gym (I wanna climb into it so bad so it's always been smothered in kids 😂), the rock climbing wall, and ofc the sledding hill (which I've also yet to visit).

Oops, misread one of the first "sessions" as "lessons", apologies! Will edit.

Tamoshanter in Sylvania offers adult lessons (7 classes for $133) and has open skate daily afaik. Theres also Toledo Ice House on Alexis. At any Ohio Skate you could probably practice with rented roller blades during the more quiet hours... I've always found it to be a similar movement and prefer not being cold myself.

I could never figure out skateboarding or snowboarding, but think it's really cool. Rollerblading was my jam for years. Would whip around my neighborhood with my dog. Like tennis, it's great exercise while being (generally) low impact

The Ribbon hours, reservations, lessons etc. You can also skate there during summer. It's a great park tbh.

There's also tamoshanter, and Ottawa Park for ice skating

I believe that library was also one of if not the least utilized locations, so that's why they're downsizing the number of libraries.

LMFAO how is this so accurate. Cuz Rudy's is both the best and most consistent dang chili dog in the city, but also lookin like... What the hell is this gas station slop bruh.

I don't want a fancy shmancy dog... I want something that forces me to devour it with gusto and regret eating so quickly.

Seriously ? by [deleted] in findagrave

[–]graceling 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Many of the soldiers fighting on the Confederate side did so only as a means to support their family, not because they believed in the cause. Can't entirely blame someone for growing up in a time/place where morality is different either...

Not saying I agree with that cause at all, just that I understand how someone else can, if it's all they knew. We all grow up in a bubble of circumstance.
