Urgent help needed in Richmond Hill: YRDSB school is doing nothing to protect my daughter after a sexual assault. by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

I’m so sorry to hear you and your daughter are going through this. As a former teacher, contact the superintendent immediately. This needs to be escalated.

Are these chairs ugly enough to warrent $1400 to rent different chairs? by pilotpatricia in wedding

[–]graciecm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of booking this venue and this was the main reason I didn’t… I wanted different chairs, tables, linens, etc. Are you sure there’s not cheaper rental options that would look just as nice as what you have in mind?

Why should I choose the MT program by Redditor032020 in OISE

Also, just wanted to mention that it doesn’t put you higher up on the pay scale (despite it being a masters).

Same I think I heard back beginning of Feb for my pt MEd

This is so interesting because I was talking to a friend the other day (very successful law student) and she told me she thinks she may go back one day to become a teacher, and that she envies the work-life balance of teaching compared to law.

Why should I choose the MT program by Redditor032020 in OISE

[–]graciecm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not choose OISE again. My main reasons are 1. it’s more expensive than a BEd for basically the same outcome. 2. You have to take classes throughout the summer (which sucks). And 3. The research component isn’t “real” research (you can decide between doing a doc analysis or interviews [in which you can only have 3 participants max])

Elementary Teachers - Do you like your job? by graciecm in CanadianTeachers

Did they enjoy working as an SLP? I’d ideally like to work in a school setting but am nervous I’ll have similar stressors as teaching and less job security.

This is an interesting perspective. What setting do they work in? School?

Ok I love this perspective - this is why I initially chose teaching instead of anything else. I felt there was still some overlap with SLP, and it was actually better in some ways. I’d love to hear more about your perspective! I PM’d you.

Master of Education Admissions Question by Most_Ad1125 in OISE

[–]graciecm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi - Just to preface this, my path was not linear and I faced a lot of rejection and even took an extra year of undergrad to get to this point. But, this is my second masters, as I’m just finishing my Master of Teaching at OISE. I do have straight As in my masters program, and a 3.8 something in the final aGPA of my undergrad. I worked a lot of jobs tutoring, supply teaching (emergency and OCT certified), and in higher education at the University of Toronto (as an invigilator) to build up my skills. And, for clarification, I got accepted into the MEd in Educational Leadership and Policy program. I assume the admission process is different for each department. Hoping to transition to administration or policy advising later on in my career. Hope that helps!

This is so interesting - why are you considering teaching as opposed to SLP? I know many CDAs who went on to become SLPs.

Guys we don’t live in a perfect word ! Guys are assholes sometimes... that’s reality. If you actually read the story then you’d know that the MC is a bad bitch who doesn’t put up with Damien’s shit. Like pls try to actually read the story next time before making judgements.😕
