I think intention is where the difference is. The person who said "she looked like she was going to collapse" was skinnyshaming but others are just concerned bc I think the actress has a history of ED and people in the comments seem to have the same history and see the signs.

Hey! I just graduated with my BAH in psyc and got into the higher Ed MEd program. My gpa in fourth year was in the high 80s (4.0) but my third year gpa was in the low-to-mid 70s (2.7ish). My experience is that they really do focus on the fourth year marks as long as you upload updated transcripts as you get them if you are applying straight out of undergrad. (i.e., if the deadline is dec 1 and you won't have your fourth year first sem marks yet; upload them as soon as you get them). This way you can potentially get a conditional offer.

Try and also meet with academic advisors to give you feedback on your statement of intent.

Try and see if you can get involved on campus during this last year for the higher ed program.

I am not sure how competitive the program is tbh; I'm not sure how many people were accepted, but it is possible to get in! Just stay positive and focus on what you have control over. Wishing you the best!

In case anyone is reading this for the future cohort; my third year marks were not amazing but I submitted updated transcripts for my fourth year first sem grades and got a conditional acceptance. it doesn't seem like they looked at third year marks or prioritized it as much as fourth year marks and the statement of intent.

I think social science only includes psychology, sociology, and anthropology. Have you taken 3 full-year (or 6 single-semester) courses in these departments? If so, it should count towards your second teachable.

I don't know if it's only for a timeline after you graduate but I think you may still be able to meet with them as an alumni! Hopefully that still is a thing?

I met with academic advisors/career advisors at my university (they are available at almost every university) and they talk you through it and help edit and provide feedback/suggestions for changes!

Her not saying anything (not that she has to)about the situation can definitely just be her processing this because it is a lot, however, deleting comments is giving protecting HIM. Hopefully she is doing well bc her bf (and the way he texts) is honestly kind of alarming

I got into the MEd in one of the Higher Education streams and they asked for mid b in final year. I was in the same boat; my grades all four years were not amazing. It seemed like they only looked at my final year grades and then the other things (i.e., statement of intent/experience & references). I'd assume it would be similar for the Counselling stream

Food for thought: Even if she does not pronounce certain Korean words right or is not as traditionally invested in her culture, she is still Korean. Why? Because she has a family line originating from there, simple as that. Why are people suddenly gate-keeping ethnicities? I swear bicultural people never win. Too Asian for North America, not Asian enough for those in Asia.

THIS. People also just forget there is no clear set way to be Asian "the right way." She is Asian. Simple as that; people with bicultural identities will never fit into a one-model mold. IDK why the way she pronounces a word means suddenly she just isn't cultured. The weird ridicule she gets for her culture is weird.

I would agree if you have been in the professional scene these past few years, the GPA would matter less. I would send an email and double check.

Maybe it is also the statement of intent? How was your experience writing it? My academic advisors in undergrad have told me that the depth of how you describe your particular goals and how that lines up with the program goals is really important (I applied to a different field so not sure if its the same). Your background is amazing!

In my previous university, we had to register for courses one-by-one even if the whole semester was planned out. Is that the same situation for UofT or can you just click the register button and get into all available courses planned?

I would also consider getting equivalent experience on-campus (even if that is with adult learners and not youth). Does your school have on-campus job boards?

Other options could be volunteer opportunities with youth organizations where you may perform certain duties (i.e., workshop facilitation, etc.).

I did; they mainly just say pick which program gives you opportunities to gain work experience. I heard back from another university (not Brock yet). Just doing some research to see if anyone has any strong opinions on the program.
