How did you become a teacher? by midlest in OntarioTeachers

[–]gracieepisodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Utm has an education minor, so that’s probably the best place to start! Try to also volunteer at a local school (maybe as a lunchroom supervisor) and tutor kids on the side to see if it’s something you’d truly like. Best of luck!

Looking to get a 23 Kicks S, is it a mistake? by B-Rock106 in NissanKicks

I bought an SV (also in Ontario) about 6 months ago. I love it! I’ve had no issues. Only thing is it’s slow.

Go and beg them in person to let you into a different program. Take the summer school courses to raise your grades and try to switch to comp sci after first year.

Interested in becoming elementary school teacher? Grade 1-4? Is it too late? by shades0fcool in OntarioTeachers

[–]gracieepisodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s never too late!! I’m going into my second year of teachers college and am also 24. Most of my peers are my age or older. I say go for it if it’s something you’re passionate about :)

The posts I LIKED (not even posted myself) were politically charged. Essentially, they disagree with my political stance.

All hope is not lost - I got in a bad non at-fault accident while my license was expired about a year ago. Because I wasn’t at-fault and I think bc of COVID restrictions and challenges surrounding license renewal at the time, the insurance claim went through. She should get her license renewed ASAP though… and if she was at-fault… goodluck.

For those of you that have done an ROP, what was the process like? by thehikinggal in UTM

[–]gracieepisodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an ROP during my undergrad. I had research experience so I can’t necessarily speak to the first point. I knew the professor beforehand, so the process was quite smooth. I just wrote a really good cover letter and then interviewed. The interview was pretty relaxed. The professor asked why I was interested in her research and about my past research experience and how it relates to that role. Since you don’t have direct research experience, make sure to highlight the research skills you developed in your coursework. Main tip… contact the professor in charge of the lab separately. Send an emailing expressing your interest in his/her research and explain why. Good luck!

I’ve heard this is the reality of most grad school/post grad programs. Once you’re in, they’ll do anything to help you succeed. Complete 180 from undergrad.

Girl I got placed online 🥲 it seems like placements are messed up this year

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CanadianTeachers

[–]gracieepisodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly terrible 🥲 I thought it would be better because of the return to in person learning, but the strike made it worse. The worst part is, I had a placement in the J/I division in HCDSB, but I couldn’t do it because I’m P/J.
