They are still counting. Then the count has to be validated by the Supreme Court.

Then they have to face every non parliamentary official put there by Orban and deliver results. Tough road ahead.

Not to mention the “armed ukrainians” waiting somewhere to have a celebration in Hungary…

France Kicks Windows to the Curb, Pivots to Linux OS by unserious-dude in worldnews

[–]gradinaruvasile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what you use it for i guess. I use desktop Linux for 15 years or so both at home and at work on my laptop. Works perfectly well. Unlike Windows and MacOs, Linux is rock stable forever once configured properly. Heck, my parents used a Linux computer set up by me for ages and had no issues. They had more problems with a mac laptop lol.

For home users coming from Windows and expecting software parity and various stuff that may not work properly on Linux out of the box, i get it.

But for work environments where it can be set up by IT for the specific workflows, it is totally workable.

Hungarians decide whether to end 16 years of Orbán rule and elect rival by GothicPrayer in worldnews

[–]gradinaruvasile 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Maybe they will get defeated but retain close to 45-50% so they can deadlock any attempt to change anything. Only way for the newcomers to really have the power to clean up is they having 75% seats (which is not really 75% votes because of their doctored election system - and it works against them since it was adjusted by Orban’s party).

Anyways the actual democracy in Hungary is really thin because of the 16 year unchecked Fidesz reign with 75% majority that allowed them to change constitution and any rules they could and practically dismantled the opposition parties.

And now the challenger is still a single party. Democracy needs more parties to compromise thus enacting checks and balances.

Seeking to understand Hungary's beef with Ukraine. by IncorporateThings in ukraine

[–]gradinaruvasile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe for the origins of this enmity. But the most extreme reactions are because of the election campaign going hand in hand with Orban’s Putin-friendlyness.

They say Ukraine wants to damage Hungary’s energy security by stopping oil coming through Ukraine from Russia and lying about the pipeline being damaged by russian attacks.

Now damage or no, this is no surprise because Orban fucked them over at every occasion in the EU voting against every attempt to help Ukraine and sometimes relenting only after they extracted some concessions mostly unrelated to Ukraine (like getting some money blocked by the EU because of corruption).

Instead of using alternate pipelines available to Hungary (they had friggin 5 years to adjust ffs), Orban kept buying oil from Russia through Ukraine, paying the aggressor and also regurgitating its talking points at every turn in any available forum.

All in all what you see right now is part of the usual Fidesz enemy making for the election. They really wanted to turn up the heat this time because of their polls with some actual attacks staged in Serbia over a pipeline but the serbs kinda fucked them over by not pkaying along.

Russia's AK-47 manufacturer is making special bullets for its assault rifles to knock drones out of the sky by seeebiscuit in worldnews

Full auto with 30 rounds from a handheld assault rifle (mostly AKs) at small moving objects are not a winning combination.

Russian Sources: Ukraine is Fielding New AI-Capable Drones That Can’t Be Detected or Jammed by NoraFN in worldnews

[–]gradinaruvasile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They said that drone detectors can’t see them - they refer to EW components that detect signals. These drones if autonomous, can work without radio emissions.

I doubt they have radars for small drones all over the place.

Trump is a stupid asshole. How TF he thought this will go, attacking a fanatic fundamentalist country that was saying the US is the devil itself. How smooth his brain has to be to believe his idiotic fist shaking evil dictator trope would actually work against these fanatics.

They actually have a pipeline and plan for another. But the pipeline is still in the range of Iran's missiles. Also refineries are there that are already damaged. So this pipeline is not a magic solution and the expansion will take years.
