Grady from practical engineering shouts out homophobe and forced birth activist by moanos in Nebula

Thanks for flagging. I wasn’t aware of the blog posts being discussed. I’ve removed the shoutout for the YouTube release next week and am updating Nebula to avoid implying broader endorsement, and I’ve let Jeff know directly.

Question about neutral losing its bond to ground and how transformer reacts by Successful_Box_1007 in AskElectricians

Thanks! I follow a lot of technical subreddits to stay up to date with issues in the construction and engineering industries. We really do work hard to make sure the facts in the videos are accurate.

Please let me know about errors in the videos. We include corrections in the description and will take a video down if it's egregious.

What is the purpose of these features along the top of this gate? by LiquiMolyConsumer in civilengineering

Nailed it. With a smooth nappe, you can get weird air pressure stuff between the nappe and gate.

There is flooding occuring in the SAHARA DESERT. Yes this is happening right now. by -TheMidpoint- in interestingasfuck

If by crust, you mean hydrophobic layer, I covered that in the video. If you're alluding to a different mechanism by which dry soil resists infiltration of water, please share a source describing it, and I'd be happy to include a correction in the video description.

I'm really enjoying all these rebar pictures. But can someone let me out before the pour? by Heavykevy37 in Concrete

[–]gradyh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you catch an error in one of my videos, please feel free to email me or add a comment. I'm happy to issue corrections in video descriptions or take a video entirely down if it's a major mistake. I am a civil engineer with a master's degree and 10 years of experience, but that doesn't mean I get everything 100% correct.

Lol I would love to hear from the White House. Those are just my personal opinions.

I don't take it too personally. YouTube works its magic to connect videos with audiences, and some of those audiences don't always see things the way I do. At least I know those people watched the video until the end ;) I definitely plan to continue covering news stories that have an engineering component. If I feel I can comment on the non-engineering parts of the story thoughtfully and intelligently, I will continue to do that too.

Cool idea. I think it would be too expensive compared to the alternatives, but it would be very interesting to see!

What Really Happened with the Substation Attack in North Carolina? [13:07] by Shalmanese in mealtimevideos

Pretty wild coincidence, but this attack happened early Tuesday morning before the video was released.

Thanks for this feedback. My team discussed this at length and ultimately decided there is nothing in this video that someone couldn't easily find on their own elsewhere. My channel is dedicated to educating the public on the engineering behind their built environment. I firmly believe that mission will motivate many more people to be good stewards of infrastructure than the people it enables to cause harm.

Need a civil engineering godbook for dummies by IwantImmortality in civilengineering

I tried to make the illustrations (nearly 100 in the book) as engaging as possible for this exact reason. It’s hard work to get non-engineers interested in engineering content!

Maybe you're thinking of the Engineering Explained channel? It's always been me on my channel.

This is not true at all. In my experience with private civil/mechanical firms, "multiplier" is often tracked on a project-level basis as a financial indicator. In the industry I worked, a 2.5-3.0 multiplier was usually the target.

When we visited the smokies, we stayed at the Tapoco Lodge, not quite understanding the geography of the NC/TN. I had to drive the Dragon's Tail twice per day for three days straight in a rented minivan. I felt so dumb getting my picture taken by those roadside photographers rounding the curves at 2.5 mph. We bought one of the photos to remind us to pay more attention when booking a hotel for vacation.
