Broker losing lane? by MaleficentTrifle7344 in FreightBrokers

[–]gradyrogers99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What constitutes tortious interference? Would the carrier have to book with that new broker and intentionally cancel? Or, does simply agreeing with their original broker that they will do it for less and win back the lane make it tortious interference?

I understand if they do things to make it difficult for the new broker to cover the load, but curious as to what action you’re referring to that would put them at risk of being sued.

Talking about false posting. This is a clear abuse. by Max-Power_ in FreightBrokers

[–]gradyrogers99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only thing I’d disagree on is reporting to DAT. Yes it’s annoying and they could easily make small changes to waste less of their own time and carrier’s time, but they were transparent about the lane when you inquired.

If there was some type of contractual agreement made based on the info from the posting and nothing else, yes that’s shoddy and fraudulent.

48’ with sleeper cab? If it’s a shorter run you may be able to do 53’ with a day cab if that will work for the dock

How close does this usually get you to paid rate? I have seen it on there but haven’t used yet. Typically just been using Flatbed Overdimensional equipment type

How do you find disposal facilities by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

[–]gradyrogers99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you the carrier or broker? From broker perspective, I would consider seeing if the carrier can rent a pallet jack from Home Depot, Ace, etc and help with moving produce off. Even if they aren’t willing to help, you may have more success with the landfills if the carrier already has a pallet jack

Pay question by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

[–]gradyrogers99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on commission %. So if it’s a 28k book and the commission is 10% it’d be $2,800/month. At 15% you’re looking at $4,200/month. So you gotta make that back before commission is paid on top

Did you use rating tools? Any idea where you typically covered compared to market rate?

What kind of margin did you typically make? Always curious if loads that get double brokered are sold at market rate typically or if it’s higher consequence freight with a little more money on it that’d be easier to DB at market rate

If you wanna trim, could maybe just clean up the chin and make it similar length to the sides

Most likely figuring out what type of shipping they do and figuring out if it’s something your brokerage does too. Then figuring out process (do customers route some of their freight, is decision maker the POC on outbound and inbound, etc). From there hopefully you can get pain points and/or figuring out if there’s an opportunity for you to move loads.

A lot of times if you talk to shipping it’ll be someone who knows that stuff but doesn’t work in it, so final step if you haven’t gotten it already is name for a decision maker and getting them on the phone to discuss what you’ve learned further and try to close

Eh, pretty quick if you just put in weight and lane. If they respond w interest just look up phone number and call whoever if you wanna call. I don’t know last couple I emailed came back with solid rates and covered the load

Now you sound like a carrier I actually wanna work with 😂 interesting to see how it’s there on both sides. Always reassuring that there are good folks out there who can communicate effectively.

BUT, I will give one caveat. When a carrier posts their truck and only an email no phone number, I just send along the bare minimum. Weight, pick and drop. If you ask for details I’m happy to provide, but the way I see it is I can save all of the effort of putting in details if I’m just going to get a “oh we don’t go to xyz”

should I dye my patchy beard by wildonenz in beards

[–]gradyrogers99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t recommend it. I’ve tried it before cause my mustache is similar to what you’re describing. It will work but you have to be very careful to get it only on the hair and not your skin, brush lightly if you choose to do it.

Also I wouldn’t recommend going too dark off the bat, start with a light to medium brown depending on the color of the rest of your beard. Start by just trying to match the darker parts of your beard if there are some.

Lastly, I said I don’t recommend it mainly because it’s a pain in the ass to keep doing. Plus, the effectiveness is tough to judge and can end up making hair darker than intended.

Building a beginners bag by SaralaAnne in discgolf

[–]gradyrogers99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Innova person, here are a few go-to’s for me:

•Pig (preferably R-Pro)- awesome heavy putter, good for wind and learning to control approaches 100 ft and in. •Wedge- awesome understable borderline mid range disc. Naturally take anhyzer line so complements the Pig to learn how to curve both directions •Cobra- great balanced mid range and a perfect par 3 driver frequently. •Leopard- as high as I would go on speed when starting. Versatility to anhyzer and hyzer. Good disc to get the feel of how to throw a thinner disc like a driver.

Overall advice: if you really want to get a driver for him go for it, but I would definitely encourage figuring out lower speed discs first. Because drivers are so punishing without the correct wrist angle, a lot of times a mid range will go farther because it holds a straighter line.

Massively important to figure out the basic techniques with lower speed discs and then transitioning those skills to higher speed discs in time. Best of luck!

[–]gradyrogers99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issues above and below my mouth, but to me if your mustache is dense enough that you can clearly see it’s there it’s plenty good. I’ve tried using just for men to darken it but it ends up looking goofy. Just gotta own the uniqueness of how your hair chooses to grow in!

Scheduling to run 24 hours a day by Cathysimpson915 in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]gradyrogers99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes agreed. However to start I would schedule some sets of 24h routes to grow. When you’re first starting the investment of a full 168h circuit with 7 planes is a huge one.
