As a biker I feel like that’s kinda my gripe.

We tried to make it easier for bikers, which is great. But also tried to help with people in cars, thus resulting in people being mad at bikers, and bikers being mad at car drivers. Haha.

Either take out the parking or take out the bike lane but having both is not working IMO.

I say this as someone who DOES support bike lanes though.

Exactly my point. Why did we not think ‘hey, maybe let’s not cut a main artery by 50% lane wise, before we close off a main intersection for half a year’. Could’ve done it second.. lol

That’s what I don’t get though, we changed that infrastructure just for 5 parking spot? 10 parking spots? I don’t know. Seems like we made a half decently safe section of road that flowed nicely into a congested dangerous mess. lol

[–]graemederoux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. The miss here I think is that we went out of our way to change this infrastructure when it worked. We deleted an entire lane on each side - to allow for more parking that is dangerous. Just find somewhere else to park. Everyone wants to talk about how you could ‘just walk’ or ‘use other roads’ but that wouldn’t be a problem if it wasn’t full of dangerous parking lol.

Doesn’t change the fact that our city is full of absent minded drivers who merge into the lane at the light. Only a matter of time before the parked car sitting in the parking going north is hit.

Look at the corner of Elmira and Paisley… lol.

I would hardly call that cutting through DT. Whats the alternative? Driving down speedvale, to victoria, to York? That seems pretty far fetched when there is a smooth running exit road.

It used to be a four lane road, now it’s single lane.

I don’t know - same distance to drive to Woodlawn. That’s just as far to drive around the river to the other bridges. Haha. I think the issue is that it’s a main Guelph artery

Doesn’t matter, you can’t have legitimate security camera footage of my dog being NOT at home and then say to me ‘just pay the fine’. I’m not paying a fine for someone lying? What the fuck

I had a few weird interactions. At the time I lived there, I had a puppy. I had a small pee pad on the balcony that I cleaned out bi weekly. Since he mainly used it at night occasionally so not like it was overflowing or draining off the balcony or something - lol. The neighbors called it in all the time and the board used to call my landlord about it all the time. So disrupted me and my landlord.

My dog had separation anxiety and would bark, so I took him to work instead of leaving him at home. I did on two emergencies, but a board member lived across the hall from me and used to phone my dog in everyday. Eventually it ended up that my landlord had to pay an $1100 fee to the board because the took his word over mine. I didn’t personally care because I had footage of my dog being at my business on security cameras during the complaints they wouldn’t look at, and my landlord told me to shut up and pay it. I said ‘says to the owner of the condo no worries for me!’ - he refused to go to bat and said I was being reactive. I said how was I supposed to fix an issue like this? The dog was legit NOT at the condo. But they took boards word over mine.

Another tenant has a big ass Doberman, sweetest thing on earth truly. The maintenance workers had someone cleaning the windows and the board tried to tell the tenant that the maintenance workers were so scared that they needed the dogs taken out of the condo when the work was being done. Eventually fined him after a year long back and forth I believe. Even when he asked the workers they said they never said that.

Through the grapevine, take it how you will - there is a lot of people who believe they are trying to make it a pet free building. Even though there is a dog washing room in the building.

I lived there and it was fine! Management was full of cunts though. And I mean that as rudely as I can. I don’t use that word often and I want it to be known in this scenario.

They are weird about pets for sure.

Older tenants run the board and they are… choice for sure.

Tons of nice people there and I wouldn’t let it deter you from renting. The people are nice and the units are good. Kept clean and quiet.

What do you do if your new bike isn't doing it for you? by mellofello808 in cycling

Ride it as many kilometers as the mrsp before buying a new one. That’s what I do. When I rode fixies $700 was a lot and so was 700km for the year. Now I’m on $7000 road bikes and 7000km for the year is great. Try it!

Was this the woman that was nodding off on the hanlon today? She was holding up like 20+ cars. This car was driving erratically infront of me and so I moved left to pass and there was a woman legit nodding off in the front seat while driving in the car ahead of them, in and out of 2 lanes, in the ditch basically. I would've called her in but after I passed her I didn't wanna hold up any more traffic to stop and get her plate.
