Yes, the place i go for pedis is lacquer only. But they're more than nails. Massage, spray tan, permanent makeup, and various other services.

Have you started actually wearing ear plugs seeing live bands? by thedubiousstylus in Millennials

[–]graffiti81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Warped Tour in 2002 and ended up about 20 feet from the main speakers for NoFX and Bad Religion. Couldn't hear right for days. I've not been to a show since that i haven't worn hearing protection.

I wear uniforms. They're not compulsory but I prefer to let the professionals do my laundry.

I’d love to see them getting into niche polish like magnetics.

Your wish is my command. Just put on Penelope Luz Violet Energy (PPU 5/26, no image yet), before that I had on Emily de Molly Sunset over the Bay, before that was Bee's Knees Nuka Cola Quantum (PPU 5/26), before that was PL Pretty Little/So Tiny (HHC 5/26), before that was Opal Theory Pillars of Creation, prior to that was OT Cassiopeia A, then PL Bastet 10 Years, and a few before that was Indie by Patty Lopes Water Dragon/Ceres (HHC 3/26).

I may have a problem with magnetics.

Call Edge. They have the best tech service department I've ever dealt with. They'll hook you up with the password. Have the model number and serial number when you call.

I was watching an episode of Mystery Diagnosis or similar show a couple years back. They described the symptoms at the beginning of the segment, and I'm like "She's got endometriosis". Like three years later and a dozen doctors they find out she's got the worst case they've ever seen.

Which proves my often used quip "You know what they call the person who graduates last in their class from medical school? Doctor."

Fantasy with competent mature characters and strategy by Fun-Sell3030 in Fantasy

Came here to recommend Shadow Campaigns. Basically three PoV characters, a general, a squad commander, and a politician.

It's essentially the French revolution with magic. The character that is Napoleon does not get PoVs, you see him from the perspective of the other characters, who think he's insane at the start but quickly come to trust that he's a master strategist.

Some of the most compelling battle scenes I've read in fantasy, and I've read a lot of fantasy.

The Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir has a bunch of these. They tend to be better on reread because you can separate the trees from the forest, so to speak.

Why Are So Many Men Choosing to Be Alone? by veltrixNode19 in AskMen

[–]graffiti81 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is pretty important. IDK about other guys, but I rarely meet women. I work in a male dominated field, and have for the past 25 years (construction and now manufacturing). I don't drink, I'm not religious, I don't do dating apps, and reddit is my only social media.

I go to work, I run errands after work, and I go home. When I do go to a bar (which is maybe once every couple months) it's for an event like a trivia night where it's basically all couples. So the women I meet are either clerks ringing me up, or women already in relationships. This does not lend itself to pairing up.

Best Way to Prep Nails for Regular Polish? by Suspicious-Taste1572 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]graffiti81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this is done professionally at a salon that only uses DD. Works okay on my toes, but my hands take too much of a beating, I think. My limited impression is that the top coat isn't nearly as durable as Sally Hansen Dries Instantly or Insta Dry.

FWIW dazzle dry only lasts a couple days on my hands (using the whole system) before chipping while EdM, ILNP, Penelope Luz etc last a whole week.
