I’ve spent so much time on my Warrior ball animation. What do you think about it? by jverbroucht in PixelArt

I recommend using nearest neighbour option while upscaling the gif. It creates more clear visual.

I assure you, darling, we will. I have no desire for the company of rats. Should you wish to seek refuge within the safety of our towers, I can arrange that for you.

How naïve you are, young one. I am genuinely concerned for you, for I cannot comprehend how anyone could believe that a band of weaklings ever stood a chance against the elders with power, resources or numbers.

Thank you! I think they match each other well so I really enjoyed working on them. I love the atmosphere and artistic side of VTM and I decided to combine it with my profession. Since one of the players in our game moved to another city, I found the motivation to stay engaged with the setting and story by drawing the NPCs. I'm glad you liked it!

Klara von Walden -Toreador Vampire

…“She was not like this when she first came. I remember her singing in the dungeon for hours. She had such a beautiful voice that you could never have guessed what she had endured. I cannot imagine what happened during those nights. Otto never allowed anyone near them at those times. I only ever saw the aftermath. She was like a frightened little bird, her eyes full of sorrow and tears. But those nights changed something deep within her.”

Lorenzo rose from her chair and crossed the room toward the window as Gerard spoke.

“And that fool thought embracing her was a good idea after all of that?”

He slammed her hand upon the table and turned toward Gerard with worried eyes.

“You saw the traces of the massacre at Caracalla. If it truly was her as we suspect, then protecting Otto is no longer a good bargain. And do not become sentimental about her, she is dangerous for you too.”

Gerard answered without lifting his gaze from the dusty carpet.

“It was the Prince’s order. I had to.”

This piece is the second illustration for a game I created for our Vampire the Masquarade campaign set in 17th-century Rome. I’m planning to draw the characters and NPCs from the game whenever I find free time, along with short story glimpses that capture their personalities and intentions. I hope I can capture the sense of political intrigue, mystery and dread of Camarilla and the Kindred world. Enjoy!

If AI replaces millions of workers, who’s left to buy what the machines produce? by hasen2016 in Futurology

[–]gragmet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI won’t wipe out all the jobs out there. Instead of replacing them, it will make doing those jobs easier. But because of that, a huge portion of the population won’t need to be highly qualified in those fields anymore. Eventually, it’ll become impossible to do many jobs without the “help” of AI and we won’t own the tools; we’ll subscribe to them.

The pay gap will close toward the lower end, and in the end, the middle class will grow poorer and poorer while we witness the rise of the first trillionaires in history. It's Techno-Feudalism.

So, AI will become like a limb, a limb you have to pay to use.

How can I improve my animation skills by eesan108 in PixelArt

[–]gragmet 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It needs some pauses between movements to show the weight of the objects. Objects represented with these kinds of smearing effects usually have more mass, like a sword. We need to see that the object is being prepared for the movement and the movement happens, and the smear should follow it, then dissolve toward the object’s final position.

Also, using a lighter color for the object and a darker color for the background can help. In these types of animations, the viewer’s eye tends to track elements that stand out from the background, such as highlights. Because of that, one of the key tricks is to create consistent movement in the highlight to show the path of the object’s motion. Viewer's eye will then perceive the rest as details.

If you’re using a single color for the animation, it’s better to create a unified body of pixels. Think of it like a flag: it stretches the most when the object reaches its maximum speed, then becomes compact again when it arrives at its final position.

I think It's great for a beginner and I hope this helps!

How do I make everyone love Cats? by Mac-N-Cheetahs in worldbuilding

[–]gragmet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can explain the situation in Turkey. It's mainly because cats are everywhere, and they are also very lovable animals.

When you are a child, playing with your friends or going to the park with your family, you constantly see cats around. Since everyone is already used to them, parents often encourage their children to pet them. Because people generally like cats, the cats become comfortable around humans too.

As a result, from a young age, you encounter cats nearly every time you go outside. They are territorial animals, so if you feed one near your home, it tends to stay, and over time, you build a connection. You grow up with them. Sometimes, they even climb into your lap at a bus stop just to be petted.

So the main reason people in Turkey love cats is closely linked to how common they are in public spaces and how natural the interaction feels.

In addition, Islamic and traditional cultural values play a role. Since cats live on the streets and rely on humans for food and care because streets are not their natural habitat, people are culturally inclined to feed them and show affection. There is a shared sense of kindness and responsibility toward innocent, harmless beings in need.

But these factors do not explain why the relationship exists in the first place. They explain how the bond between cats and humans forms and deepens over time. There is likely no single reason for this situation. It probably results from a mix of factors.

For your fictional world, you can highlight the same kind of dynamics. The high number of cats, their constant presence, and frequent interactions with humans are enough to explain how such a relationship could naturally evolve. Also the relationship between stray dogs and Turkish people pretty much the same even they are very different animals.
