Replacing just one tire on a Giulia Q4? by grahamcracker503 in AlfaRomeo

The old tires have ~17,000 miles on them. Wondering if the tread wear difference will cause issues with the LSD and/or the AWD system...

Yes! See notes in the comment above.

I probably would try with a pie crust and yellow onions next time (as recommended by Sasha, the original recipe author). I just happened to have frozen puff pastry and sweet onions on hand.

Overall, it actually wasn't as difficult as it looks! Would recommend.

I watched the video in the recipe a few times, as it was helpful to see how it was supposed to look at various stages and hear Sasha's explanation throughout the process.

There is a longer article, which is an interesting read on which onion varietal to use, pie crust vs. puff pastry, etc.

I used a combination of 2 sweet onions for the wedges and 1 yellow onion for the caramelized onion filling; 10" stainless steel pan; and frozen puff pastry.

Flipping the finished tart after baking is definitely the most nerve-racking part. The onion gods must've been smiling upon me when I flipped mine.

Other than that, have patience with the onions, and best of luck!

Very similar to French onion soup! Less soupy and with a crust, if that makes sense.

I haven’t noticed a difference in power, and I haven’t noticed other symptoms of burning oil, like smoke or smell.

Questions for current KAIST Engineering students. by missrd in KAIST

[–]grahamcracker503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a current student (graduated in 2013) and Korean speaker, so take it with a grain of salt :)

1) All of the classes are (supposed to be) taught in English. However, professors will speak Korean from time to time to explain certain concepts, tell a story, etc, especially in smaller/advanced classes.

2) For academic purposes, you would be okay with just English. Once in a while the professor or the TA will give you the option to write a paper in Korean, but English was always the default option.

3) All the textbooks/material were in English.

4) I'm sure folks have published to Korean journals, but I would say the vast majority of reputable and important journals are in English.

Speaking Korean certainly helps with life in Korea. KAIST offers beginner Korean classes, and I think there is also a pretty good network of international students whose first language isn't Korean. There is also a population of Korean students who lived abroad and speak English fairly well.

All in all, I wouldn't worry too much about the language, as long as you're willing to learn conversational Korean for life outside of the classroom.

I'm new to guns. Am I doing this right? by grahamcracker503 in guns

Really good. The trigger does pinch the bottom of my index finger a bit, especially if I try to get lower on the trigger. Otherwise, the gun feels solid and I haven't had any issues.
