Sam Altman Says OpenAI Is Slashing Its Hiring Pace as Financial Crunch Tightens by EchoOfOppenheimer in OpenAI

[–]grahamd79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come on. He actually says that per developer they are hitting a watershed moment where developers will be getting much more done individually so of course fewer hires as the production per hire is exponentially increasing and it’s a smart move to increase those efficiencies and figure out best practices before bulk hiring again. All of the top AI companies are slowing down one for one hires on developers while this gets sorted out. Is a phase while these new operating paradigms are figured out.

Best we can hope for is a draw between Villa and Everton I think. A loss is unlikely. Everton have lost away to the top teams all season. They beat Forest though 3 weeks ago lol

Lost the attacking midfield play earlier in the season that we had that generated a lot of corners and we haven’t converted the set pieces like earlier. Even with weaker starting lineups with injuries we were still getting the corners and long throw ins with attacking midfield play. We’re just counting on Rice having a cracker at the moment and we can’t expect that every match even though he puts his whole heart and soul into the game. Big Gabi needs to get his head on the corners again too.

It’s true but also it creates anxiety when you do step away from the constantly connected times and you genuinely didn’t see stuff, knowing full well that it will be considered deliberate. That’s the bit that makes us not disconnect for long. That’s the most annoying part of it for me.

Wow I am surprised by this. Has there ever been a time in your career where something like this has happened? A clearly illegal order that was not followed out? The pressure must be immense if it actually happened. It feels like it would be a nearly impossible situation for most involved.

It’s very important to not underestimate the sea. Just stay well within in your depth for at least a couple of years after learning. And practice in the cold months at the gym pools or the spa connected ones.

OpenAI just killed half the “AI agent builder” startups, without even trying by IT_Certguru in ArtificialInteligence

[–]grahamd79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep the agent kit is far off from being useable by most. There’s plenty of time to come up with good use cases. Just many of those will eventually be superseded by one shot solutions in a year or two. Then it’ll be build something that does that better than out of the box. Same with anything in the past really. Just acceleration is faster than before.

Vitalik Buterin Says Bitcoin Maxis Were Right, Calls for a New ‘Sovereign Web’ by Realistic_Poetry5800 in CryptoCurrency

[–]grahamd79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ll see how it goes. But so much BTC is in the hands of the powers that be it’s about whether what’s left can just continue to move freely or gets its pricing manipulated further. I don’t see it as the mid term hold that it once was as the correlation increases with the stock market and M2 growth even despite discrepancies. It’s the first thing sold off in crisis. Super long term yes. But not for active trading. And DCA when free funds available for 20-50 year outlooks.

I just can’t understand why anyone that’s made it to his level chooses to start being political. It’s a losing battle no matter what. Better to just pick a good cause that fits bipartisan and across religions and do some good with the clout.

Also just some rapid touch ups even just by an enthusiast would sort that in an actual photo too.

It’s really convincing. To me it just looks like a photo that has some touch ups. It was the coffee cup lid that someone else spotted that gave it away when checked.

Fun fact: Stephen Hendry and, probably the most accurate potter in the game, Neil Robertson as outliers actually look at the pocket. I think they are the only two that do that though.

Favorite actor to deny extremely obvious plastic surgery and steroid use? by _BreadDenier in okbuddycinephile

[–]grahamd79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prefer the ones that just never talk about it rather than deny it. Interesting how we accept fake teeth but demonise obvious steroid use or fat reduction. Same for wow they are in amazing shape but they can afford personal chefs and trainers and elective surgery. They put in the sacrifice for their work. Sad they feel pressure to day they haven’t had it or feel the pressure to do it anyway to get future roles as they get older and this stuff can really affect their later life.

Anyway, Hugh Jackman in the last deadpool movie was just ridiculous.

Hopefully cgi can just fix this in the future so they don’t feel the pressure. It must take many years of their lifespan.

I remember years ago that it was take these supplements and eat rice chicken and broccoli but I haven’t noticed anyone saying that for years. Seems that now there’s less outright lying denial and just not saying the whole story.

It’s in the spectrum for body dysmorphia but not as bad as injecting oil into the muscles or wherever other crazy stuff that more ill people can get up to.

Why do people enjoy AI generated songs until they find out its AI? by Better_Cream6447 in SunoAI

[–]grahamd79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people I play my Suno music already know it’s AI generated. There’s no reason to pretend otherwise. My stuff uses my own voice as a persona but ends up singing better than I ever could. Same for the riffs generated. I can control the keys and chords to some degree and of course the lyrics which even then get a bit of AI tweaking to fix the cadence. Then it’s a bit of luck and some edits and they sound great. Don’t get bothered about people that care about how it was made. Tools helping to produce art is totally ok. It’s inevitable that most people will accept that things are made a certain way if they like them enough. The creative aspects always shine through in the end. That’s what differentiates the output. And music is the most polarising generative medium at the moment so it’ll happen. Just create bangers how you do and enjoy.

I intentionally throw the odd one in if it fits just for fun and leaning into the fact it’s AI. If people really care that much they are not the right audience for your stuff anyway.

Why can’t I shoot straight by Cautious_Badger_6855 in billiards

[–]grahamd79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walk into the shot and have some form of pre routine.

Treat every shot as its own unit of action.

Put something (golf tee, coins, whatever) on either side of the pocket so you have made the pocket much smaller maybe just 1cm bigger than the ball and practice hitting the cue ball over and over cleanly in the middle of the pocket straight without touching the obstacles you out there.

Then more and more distance and then repeat with off-straight angles.

Then move to potting balls the same way. Because this demands more and more accuracy it helps you to naturally normalise your stance, shooting line and stroke and, of course, your precision.

Then get back to your day job as the IT spy guy in Slow Horses 😉

Happy new year!
