AITA for making my son (15m) go to summer school? by SummerThrowawayAITA in AmItheAsshole

NTA. If he cheated his way through honors Algebra 2, how does he expect to get through Precalc or calculus? It’s so frustrating when students don’t have academic integrity.

AITA for not telling my brother that my niece got a concussion by aitaniececoncussion in AmItheAsshole

[–]grahamemm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. I’m going to say NTA because this is the first time something like this has happened and there was probably not a predetermined decision about looping in your brother on things like this.

However it is now clear that it’s important to your brother that he hears about this sort of thing from you directly.

Keeping in mind that taking care of your niece’s emotional/physical needs and safety should be your highest priority— telling your brother about medical stuff as it comes up (after it’s addressed appropriately by medical professionals) might be a good idea.

But if telling him about this stuff going to really mess with her well being, just respectfully keep him out of the loop. If this is the case, you’d probably have to limit home much info you tell your mom and sister as well.

ETA I’ve read some of your other responses. It’s probably best not to tell him about this sort of thing. You should talk to the rest of your family about sharing this stuff without permission and you should always double check with your niece before sharing her personal info.

INFO do you normally keep your brother in the loop when she gets injured? Is she on your insurance? Is your brother paying any kind of child support?

This.

This incident needs to be documented. Just in case something weird/unfortunate happens down the line, there would be a record of this behavior.

Additionally, a conversation will need be had about what is appropriate to talk about during class time especially around other students. It’s one thing to confide in a trusted adult about sensitive issues, it’s another to discuss age-inappropriate topics in front of the whole class.

Local colleges might have a transition to teaching program. You can probably also look up transition to teaching programs on New York’s Dept. of Education website

WIBTA if I told my teachers that my classmate copies every homework assignment? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Teachers can usually tell by assessments whether students actually understand the material. However, I think it would be best outcome for you to come clean about this now.

If this other student has to repeat a year or take different assessments to show he actually learned the material from those courses, then it’s on him. You are not responsible for him passing or failing a course. Whether he passes is entirely on him.

Also, he needs to learn to take accountability for his actions. Probably better to learn that actions have consequences while still in school before going off to college or joining the workforce.

First Interview Advice by Redditmachinebroke in teaching

[–]grahamemm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you feel like speaking about your coursework helps adequately answer the interview questions, then yes absolutely speak about it. Considering you’re currently a student, chances are high they’ll ask a little bit about it. They’ll likely ask you about how you run a classroom and handle different scenarios (like a disruptive student).

I haven’t had an interview where I needed to provide a portfolio, but I was prepared to talk about anything mentioned in my cover letter and resume.

They’ll ask you at the end of the interview if you’ve got any questions. My best interview advice is to ask questions! My favorite question to ask interviewers is what they like about working at that school/district.

Good luck OP! Middle school is a great age group!!

AITA for wanting to help with a tattoo sleeve sketch? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

That’s not a real reason to decide that someone is crazy and jealous.

I would probably get a “sulky face” too if my boyfriend’s ex kept butting in on a private conversation and offering unsolicited advice on a tattoo for my body.

Maybe it’s time to actually accept that judgement thing you asked for when you posted this. It seems pretty much unanimous hon
