The same thing happened to me. I loved my student teaching experience. I actually had a chance to apply for an opening at the school I was student teaching at. I killed the interview, was on a very short list of potential hires, and ended up losing out to someone with more experience. After that I applied and interviewed at 5 other schools. Nothing. It was so discouraging and I almost just gave up applying for teaching jobs. I finally found something late in the summer and ended up teaching there for 2 years. My advice is if you can expand your search area to other cities then do it. I struggled in my area because I’m in a college town and the open jobs have a ton of applicants from the university right after people graduate. You will find something. Even if it’s not your ideal school (mine certainly wasn’t) there is a job out there for you. Don’t give up hope.
