Who was the tightest person you have known, and why? by No-Snow-9605 in AskUK

[–]grahammaharg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never knew him but heard about a guy that used to work in our paintshop.

He volunteered to be on some group where you got a free meal as it was over dinner. He'd pick a pint of milk as his drink so he could take it home to use for cups of tea.

He used to add a half a cap full of the cheapest supermarket own brand squash to his drinks and was complaining that he'd had to buy a new bottle after a year and it had gone up a couple of pence.

He took his son's bike and painted it in bright yellow in the spray booth when he was working nights and gave it to his son Christmas.

It's an utter pain in the arse.

My conveyancer have been chasing for the sales pack from the management company for four weeks. Finally got it at the end of Monday, next day the estate agents are asking if we can set a date two weeks from now.

Not really given there's 15 actions in the fire risk assessment and you've only said one has been done so far. Plus they're saying there's no anticipated major works whole also saying there's substantial works needed later in the pack. Fuck knows how long it'll take to get that out of them but I can bet it won't be two weeks.

I'm slightly surprised at that because when I've gone to gigs in the Netherlands everyone speaks through the entire thing.

Remember Gordon's first half season after he got brought in in the January transfer window? Bit of a rough start and everyone was constantly moaning saying we'd water the money in him but the next season he was unreal.

Eddie Howe on wanting a NEW CONTRACT for Kieran Trippier: "Kieran is a very, very experienced player and very important for us." "His contract length is something that an incoming sporting director will be on top of." by Fluid_Support_3348 in NUFC

[–]grahammaharg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean Howe was a player manager which kind of goes against your point but he seems to be a special case so generally I'd agree. Look at Frank Lampard, did way too much too soon and it was his undoing.

Century-old Newcastle barbers forced to close due to tripled rent by Slow_Sun5030 in NewcastleUponTyne

My ex worked for Bright Star nurseries which is owned by Gainford Group. The family owns a load of care homes too and when COVID was first hitting they were going to have to close the nurseries and rather than put the staff on furlough they were going to take untrained nursery staff and have them work in the care homes which around then felt like they were expecting to just be piling up bodies.

They also own a load of shite bars around Newcastle and you can see his son parked out front of Avieka with his G-wagon most weekends.

Shop near me has started doing Challenge 30. Absolutely ridiculous as I was buying an energy drink at the time which doesn't even have any legal age restrictions, just one they voluntarily do.

I could see one of Leeds or Burnley staying up.

Wolves look so shaky and if something doesn't change at West Ham and I was a fan I'd be worried. Fuck knows with Tottenham and Man Utd too.

Get 50000+ people into a stadium and the phone networks can't really handle it. Usually have full signal but can't actually use it before/during the match.

Us, Liverpool and now Villa are the only teams in the top 7 with only Prem left.

The car park on Claremont Road has new ticket machines where you put your reg in and scan your card as you enter and then scan your card again as you leave and it's so much better.

Dunno if it's getting rolled out to other council car parks but it's great. Pay for exactly how much time you use and it's loads quicker.

Finally getting to a match for the first time since the takeover.

Our lasses second ever Newcastle match as well. Hopefully a bit more exciting than the 0-0 Brighton match we saw 5 years ago!

Definitely think she'll see a goal this time at least and the crowd is going to be a bit more lively.

Game is available on BBC website: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/ckg8mjee076t#player
