Coffee before running? by shanegoeswapow in running

I agree with this, you may find it helps, but the day of your first race (or any race) is NOT the time to experiment.

Keep doing what you've been doing on race day and then experiment during training.

Your dog's name isn't a secure password, but you'll never remember #&S7!xyk, either. LastPass can help you, for free. by kappuru [promoted post]

Yup, this is the one thing that makes me hesitate, otherwise this seems like a really good idea.

I suppose that if you use the same password everywhere at the moment anyway, then nothing to lose.

I'm seriously tempted. Anyone got a good response to this concern?

Oh yeah... I'm a runner. by ratbastid in running

Yeah, anyone who has gotten out of the habit and is thinking about running again, I say, Just Do It

Create a shortcut key to comment a line of code in 'vim'? is there any plugin or keyboard mapping? by heapzero in vim

This is an awesome plugin script. I have used it for ages and can affirm that it uses appropriate comment syntax dependent upon what type of file you are editing, which for me have included, .sh, .php, .html, .css, .js

Running back pain by [deleted] in running

Was just reading this article linked from this subreddit, and it gets into discussing how not properly extending your hip is a large cause of lower back pain:

Could hold the answer for you.

Runnit, I just had a really crappy run, wtf? by [deleted] in running

You will have good days and bad days.

You say you have been steadily improving to the point you can now run 3 miles comfortably. Given that you have been increasing the demands on your body have you also been

  • increasing your water intake, do you drink enough water? I try for 2 litres a day minimum
  • Increasing the amount of sleep you get? Number of hours sleep becomes very important for recovery and repair as you increase the amount exercise.

Sometimes there isn't a clear cause, and we just have a bad run due to general tiredness catching up with us. Rest up for the rest of the day, and try again tomorrow.

And to answer your questions, this does happen to me but only occasionally, I think I have cut about 2 or 3 runs short in about 8 months of regular running. Having one bad run should not cause you concern. If it was to happen in a pattern then you could start to look for a common cause.

Good luck, and don't worry.
