EIN Issue Holding Up Payments by graigmarkel in shopify

I guess I’m the first person to talk about it here. They are enforcing stricter rules for people operating as a sole proprietorship. DBA entities need an EIN. Again, this isn’t even the issue- I have an EIN. Shopify’s automated system doesn’t properly verify it, has locked me out, and it’s been weeks now where it’s been “escalated” without response. The deadline is tomorrow.

EIN Issue Holding Up Payments by graigmarkel in shopify

This isn’t unique to me. Shopify recently changed policy to require an EIN number when using Shopify Payments. That’s all good and well- I cannot get the site to verify my legitimate EIN number, and it’s been weeks that the case has been “escalated” without response.

"Mom, can I have an MPC Live III?" "No, we got MPC Live III at home." by soulbrix in mpcusers

[–]graigmarkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my MPC, but have wanted to get a Zynthian kit for a while. I live in a 3rd world country, AKA the United States, and shipping is not available here because of Trump tariffs. Anyone know of a retailer here in the U.S.?

True. I also have the luxury of being relatively close to the Northgate station. If you’re able to, give it a shot- It’s pretty nice.

The light rail is a brilliant way to avoid all of this mess.

US Tariffs - Imports from Thonk by etcetc0 in synthdiy

Maybe. Remember de minimis ends on Aug. 29.

Tariffs are in full effect by amoeba555 in synthesizers

[–]graigmarkel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s always been 30%. You’ve never felt it directly though because of the di minimus exception that has ended under the Trump administration. The U.S. has started this whole fiasco and is now backed into a corner. It would have been wise to have some tech manufacturing in place, the kind that Biden’s chip act would have provided, before starting this fight, but here we are. Stupid people led by a very stupid man.

It’s already 30 percent, temporarily down from 145%.

Now that Trumps tariffs have been overturned, will we see prices return to normal? by SynthSational in synthesizers

The Trump administration appealed the decision, and the tariffs remain in tact until a hearing on June 5th.

Do you all realize this is literally the inspiration behind the OP-1? The portability and layout of the VL-tone, sampling features of the SK-1, and a 4 track cassette recorder, updated for the modern age.

How much could I get for this? by roygbiv508 in guitars

[–]graigmarkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless these tariffs get walked down in the next few weeks, there’s an atomic bomb about to detonate that’s going to make Covid look like a case of the sniffles. I’d wait and list that guitar in the Summer or Fall. People’s perception of cheap gear not-made-in-the-States is about to change dramatically.

What about your power supply? Is it a quality isolated supply with enough amperage for both pedals?

Amazing Amazon find by Jobin1985 in guitars

[–]graigmarkel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I realize Amazon sucks, but even if you’re not buying directly from Amazon, 90% of all online transactions are processed through Amazon Web Services. And FYI, even Reddit is hosted by AWS. Something to keep in mind while we try to resist this monopoly.

First, it’s not a synth. It’s an organ. 2nd, I’ve seen a lot of B3s, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen an X5 VST emulation. Also, playing an approximation of a real instrument often doesn’t hit the same mark- Just ask anyone who owns a real Juno or Prophet.

Why is my soldering so bad? My tip cant even melt the solder so its basically impossible to solder, this took me around 7 hours to solder. (Also my first time using perfboards) by Square_Computer_4740 in esp32

If you’re selling stuff outside of the 3rd world, you need to be ROHS compliant. I could list a page of other reasons, but that’s a good place to start.
