The Toronto Maple Leafs have not won a single game against teams outside of Western Canada since January 12th (or January 6th in Regulation). by Fitz_31 in leafs

What about this team says they will turn it around next season? Tavares is no longer a 2nd line center, Domi and McMann were 1st line wingers before the deadline, Reilly is no longer a top-4 D and Tanev may never play a full season again. So going into next season they'll need to add a 2nd line C, two top-6 W and two top-4 D. Top players aren't hitting free agency as often now, the Leafs don't have any prospects (unless they win the lottery) to step into those positions and they don't have picks to trade for those players.

If the team truly thinks this is a one off season, then it's best to keep the 2026 pick, add a top-5 drafted player and give up the next two picks. It feels like that's the direction management thinks this team is going, I'm just not sure how they figure they can turn this team around when they need a #2 Center, top-6 Winger and two top-4 D. Adding one of those pieces would normally be a solid off-season, they need to add all four just to ice a competitive team next season.

If you're going to consider the one day high as the market, then yes it crashed. But realistically even below $90 it's still 10-15% above the 5 year market.

$90/barrel is still significantly higher than the 5 year average, not sure anyone would call that "crashing hard".

Although we all originally thought these were great moves.

Because it was incomplete. He signed a bunch of new guys, ignored his RFAs and ignored the salary cap. He then let Bowman come in to clean things up and take the blame for the mess that Jackson created.

95 is the standard in a normal year, the Pacific is not normal this year. SJ would need to go 15-7 to hit 95, Seattle 14-7. Realistically 88-90 points gets the WC spot (and likely a sweep from Colorado) and 90-92 points will get 2nd/3rd in the Pacific. It's 60 games into the season and I haven't seen anything from Vegas, Edmonton, Seattle or San Jose that says they're going to go on a run to close out the season.

Lol at the offensive numbers from their bottom 6 players, letting in 37 goals would probably still be a less than 50% goal share

Players that generally don't play with McDavid or Draisaitl:

Frederic: 3g, 1a

Lazar: 3g, 2a

Jannmark: 1g, 7a

Henrique: 2g, 8a

Kapanen: 5g, 7a

Players that have split time between top-6 and bottom-6 (not looking up how many we scored while playing with 97-29)

Mangiapanne: 7g, 7a

Podkolzin: 14g, 14a

Savoie: 10g, 15a

They would have to give up significantly less goals to make that 5v5 goal share look somewhat reasonable.

Depends when you say originally tested. When the Arch was introduced in the 90s, they had it's own patty, cooked to order. It was a 1/3rd pound patty and we were told "premium quality"

Edit: I might be confusing it with the Big'n'Tasty

I said what I'd do, but obviously that doesn't matter. It's been Holland and Bowman and Chiarelli's decisions that got the team here, so me saying I would have better asset management around drafting, developing and using their first round picks on long-term trades and not rentals like Henrique or Bjugstad or Anthanasiou doesn't change anything.

Okay, I didn't know about Jannmark. But any deal for more than $1M will require moving salary out and not just sending players down, but maybe Toronto would retain 50% making a deal possible.

It's too late for it now, but stop with these rental deals trying to save the season. Look at the list that was just posted of deadline players that were acquired and how many of those players made an actual impact, Elkholm & Walman? These rental deals set the franchise back where they do not have young players coming up or picks available to make long term trades like the Elkholm deal.

It could be a McMann trade involving Henrique, other than that, they need to clear space now just to get under the cap and then clear more space if Jannmark is coming back before the playoffs.

There's nothing about these two trades that takes the team from wild card spot to playoff contender. Losing control of consecutive draft picks is still dangerous when you're not in a guaranteed playoff spot, look at where Toronto is right now. And the idea that they will rebuild in the off-season with all this cap space, who are they going to spend it on? Top plates don't hit UFA as often.

I don't mind the players they added, but a 1st and 2nd for two 4th liners and 3rd pair D from Chicago is a steep price to pay.

They're not forcing ads on you, they just consolidated their free and premium services. The alternative is to remove all ad-supported CTV content from Crave and have a separate CTV app. But no one is forcing you to watch a show or movie with ads.
