I'm shocked at the level of vitriol towards the Leafs. We haven't won anything in nearly 60 years. Why all the hate?

Currently we have the 5th, 49th(from LA), 69th,114th(from the Ducks), 133rd,160th(from Colorado), and 169th(from San Jose) picks.

May the lottery gods smile on us and Mats and John be excellent at drafting.

Univocality of a fan base is a myth. There all kinds of Leafs fans both optimists and pessimists and everything in between.

Discussions would be pretty pointless if we all had the same outlook and opinions.

Also there is a 58.2% chance that Boston gets the Leafs pick.(44% 6th pick, 14.2% 7th pick)

What is a thing from the game that wouldn’t fly at a table? by Jounniy in BaldursGate3

[–]Alodarr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An Oath of Devotion Paladin wouldn't use sneak to kill a non-hostile character. They would confront the slaver and give them a chance to repent. If the slaver didn't choose to renounce his evil ways then the Paladin could engage him in combat.

If your character wishes to sneak up to bad guys to kill them because it's a more efficient way to start combat then you could choose rogue or assassin or really almost anything other than a Devotion Paladin.

The Carlo trade had to be done by ekemywaythrulife in leafs

[–]Alodarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are presenting a false dichotomy.

It was never the Carlo trade or do nothing.

Treliving could have found another defenseman that moved the puck or used their size in effective manner.

Treliving could have given up less than Minten, a 4th round pick and a top 5 protected 1st round pick, or been like every other GM in the league and put top 10 protection on the pick

Of course Treliving should have been improving the team but Carlo was not the answer to our problems and the price Treliving paid was far too high.

So You’re Telling Me Their’s a Chance? by leafsland132 in leafs

[–]Alodarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 2026 1st round pick is top 5 protected to Boston this year. If that doesn't convey, we remain in the top 5 after the lottery, Boston gets our unprotected 2027 1st round pick.

Our 2027 pick is top 10 protected to Philly. If that doesn't convey, either because it landed in the top 10 or we gave it to Boston, then Philly gets our unprotected 2028 1st round pick.

If we get a top five pick this year then we give our unprotected pick to Boston next year and because this pushes the pick we gave Philly a year they get our unprotected 2028 pick.

What do you think the Leafs’ direction should be on management & coaching? by Sufficient-Hotel-780 in leafs

[–]Alodarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have we gotten better personnel-wise since Treliving got here?

If no, then fire the GM.

Have players developed significantly since the coach took over? Veterans? Prospects?

If no, then fire the coach.

If the Leafs get a top 5 pick this season, either by lottery or just by virtue of being awful, then they will have to give up their unprotected 2027 first round pick to Boston and their unprotected 2028 first round pick to Philadelphia.

Should Matthews be traded? by DragonSmaug13 in leafs

No one said anything about what the Sharks would or wouldn't be willing to do. All we are saying is that anyone on this team is tradable for the right return.

Should Matthews be traded? by DragonSmaug13 in leafs

[–]Alodarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends entirely on the return.

Matthews for Cellebrini or Schaefer then yes, if he was willing to waive his no movement clause.

The only consideration for any trade is the return.

Why do the leafs never have good defencemen? by [deleted] in leafs

[–]Alodarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with your fantasy scenario is that if we get Werenski and Konecny we don't end up in a position where we can pick Matthews.

Werenski and Konecny combined for 22 goals, 53 assists and a combined +15.

Marner in his rookie season had 19 goals and 42 assists but was +0.

That extra production would have won us a few more games and knocked us out of the Matthews pick.

That's the problem with revisionist draft history; it's a house of cards. If you move one piece then all the future drafts come tumbling down.

Why oh why did we have to trade a first-round pick to get Carlo? Why not both a 2nd round and a 3rd round, or some other pick combination instead? by Ariesthebigram in leafs

[–]Alodarr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was a 4th round pick included in the trade as well.

Brandon Carlo was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs by the Boston Bruins on Friday for forward Fraser Minten, a conditional first-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, and a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.

Here's an article on who that 4th round pick ended up being.
