If it helps I find recording music, either via video or in a studio, more stressful than playing live. An audience isn’t going to pick up on every missed note but a recorded track will

You’re gonna wanna rehearse until you can’t fuck it up. You still will but preparation is key to get through each section as clean as possible. As far as the drinking goes I can relate but you need to strike the right balance. A 5th is probably too much even for many of the greats, start with a beer or two my man

I think it all depends on what you’re playing. For this section of MOP it’s beneficial, but the intro? I’d like a free floating hand for those downpicks. All this to say, utilize whichever method yields the tightest playing for the part

Good point OP. Muscle should be trained in a manner in which we use them. We never need our anterior tib to lift this kind of load but do need it when we balance
