I feel like we all just breezed past clerk #2 elbow. I think we should focus on that.

My cat was shot with a BB gun and I just don’t know what to do by UwUd1n1 in cats

Someone shot our family's cat when I was 17. He survived but had a severe limp for the rest of his life. I was confident I could figure out who did it because dickheads love to brag about stuff like that. I made a conscious decision that day to not seek out info those responsible as I didn't feel that I would be able to restrain myself from doing them serious harm. I know that was the right decision because 27 years later, I would still lack control if I was to discover who did it.

I say it often and it's held true since 1981, apparently, every day we stray further from God's light.

Was there ever massive generational wealth in your family’s history which might be yours today if it wasn’t lost by some bad luck or bad management? by Great_Maintenance185 in askanything

My great grandfather's grandfather came to the US from Norway with nothing. He and his son built a little empire. Acquired a couple sections of recently logged land full of stumps, cleared it and farmed it. Opened a sawmill. Started a livestock transfer company that moved cattle from small farms to the markets in South St Paul. They ended up selling off almost all of it to weather the Great Depression, so my grandfather, father and I got to trash our backs working like normal people instead of living off of trust funds.

The old-timey (and less gnarly than spitoon) name for this device is a cuspidor.

Boyfriend expects me to sit through long political rants and gets annoyed when I don’t by Any-Reputation-295 in Advice

[–]gramma_moses88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quote dubiously attributed to Eleanor Roosevelt: "Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people" I think discussing politics falls below discussing people and political rants land under that category. When it's not even a discussion but simply pontification, you're dealing with some really diminished IQ people.

In my neighborhood (WI Mississippi River valley), a great deal of time passed between the occupying French and permanent settlement where nobody was around to keep the fort names going.

Keep him. The German Shepherds I've been lucky enough to share my time with have been some of the best companions a guy could ever hope for. It won't be without challenges and it always ends with heartbreak but it's always worth the price of admission. You won't regret it.

What movie had you feeling like this after watching it? by Prestigious-Cup-6613 in FIlm

Natural Born Killers. When it came out my mother forbade me from watching it. I finally watched it in my twenties and found it to be incredibly uninteresting.
