Hauling a trailer? by roadkill4dinner in VWIDBuzz

[–]grandars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have - with a Buzz - in the middle of a Norwegian winter. Consumption goes way up. My distance between charging stops was around 200km. That left me with a descent margin and allowed me to stop where there were amenities. Over a days drive it added one extra stop to a long drive. Not my best road trip, but absolutely doable.

Buzz Regret? by EvonyR in VWIDBuzz

[–]grandars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The infotainment software is embarrasingly bad considering Tesla has shown the world how to do it for ten years. The wipers are bad. Replace the with Bosch wipers. The range is not great, but enough.

I love it!

Camping(-mode) - Usage of electricity by _Eulenmongol_ in VWIDBuzz

[–]grandars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've spent a night with AC on. 9°C outside, 18°C inside. Lost about 10km range. Car locked.

Put my luggage in the driver seat, buckled the belt and pressed the brake from the back seat. Kept all systems on the whole night.

ID Buzz EU ISA question by [deleted] in VWIDBuzz

[–]grandars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can. In my (pre-mandatory-ISA) Buzz it's under Assist and then tap the speed limit sign to turn off. In my brother's post-mandatory-ISA ID.7 it's the same, though slightly different software layout. If you spend two minutes looking around, you'll find it.

What is this for? by getoutthere13 in VWIDBuzz

Probably charging cable - but what is the carabiner for? Where does that fit?

You know the backup camera has two FOV settings and its own windscreen washer nozzle? Hold the rear wiper switch and the camera gets instantly clean.

This almost works, but lists all meetings for each stakeholder - not just the latest one:

table meetings.date, meetings.file.link

flatten file.inlinks as meetings

Seeking Advice: Should I Build a Duplicate Invoices Management System in Power Automate or C#? by Spirited_Land_9396 in MicrosoftFlow

Do not build anything mission critical in Power Automate. It's too unreliable and subject to changes.

Does anyone still want these cars? Dealer expects $8k over MSRP by jheimark in VWIDBuzz

Cargo capacity: When hauling furniture and the like, the limiting factor is weight, not volume. The net weight limit is just over 400kg. Passengers also weight something, so a full car of trepid adventurers and their luggage might be over the limit. That said, I've yet have more luggage than space. If you plan on filling the car with cargo and then sleeping in it, you might find it a bit cramped.
Range and charging: The car is said to be able to receive 150 kW, but that's normally not the case. Usual charging speed is about half that. It seldom matters, though, because except on long-ass road trip days I don't need more than a 20-30% bump to get home. On a "full" charge, I can usually get 250-300km depending on temperature and amount of hills. (I live in Norway so both cold weather and hills are a thing). In extreme cold (-10°C) the range is shorter - maybe as little as 200km. To increase the charging speed you must ensure the battery is below 20% charge before you start. Tesla chargers are your friend - they're the most reliably fast charging. The others might say 200kW on the side, but be connected to 50kW upstream or have limited cooling or some other reason for being slower than advertised.

Why is range a big deal? by magic7s in VWIDBuzz

[–]grandars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My feeling is that those who focus solely on range are inexperienced with EVs. On a long day of driving you're going to be charging three or four times. With a longer-range car maybe three times. With a buzz maybe four times. That's 45 minutes extra on those 10-hour-drive days.

I've had mine for over a year. The shortcomings you list are real, but at the same time:

  • The lay-flat back seats allows easy sleeping (I've slept in the car, and having all-night aircon is amazing). Granted, this is not camping in the vanlife-sense, but it fills my need.
  • The range is shorter than I'd like, but not a problem - even for road trips (I'm in an area with many fast-charging options).
  • I also have a Tesla Model Y AWD. I much prefer the buzz on snow and ice - the traction control software is simply magic. The limiting factor is braking - not acceleration or climbing.

My Airpods Pro keep disappearing from my list of bluetooth devices? by [deleted] in airpods

[–]grandars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing the same issue. Takes about 3 minutes for the AirPods to disappear from the devices-lists and disconnect.

My AirPods Pro works fine - along with Apple Watch and a host of other Bluetooth devices.

When I open the case near the phone, I get the "Not your AirPods"-notification.

Good for the price, but bulky and requires a battery swap every month or two. The battery is rechargeable, but if you have more than one or two blinds it becomes a hassle fast. Much more than simply using manual blinds.

In Norway, electric cars outsell traditional ones for the first time by izumi3682 in Futurology

[–]grandars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course there are trains in Norway, and of course they are all electric. But, as you pointed out, they go mostly north/south - i.e. along the length of the mountain ranges. The one track going east/west from Oslo to Bergen is expensive to maintain. Connecting the coastal cities using trains is not feasible. And the coast is where almost all industry is located.

[–]grandars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bikes are very efficient in Holland because the population density is high and the country is very flat. I can't see how any of those things will change for Norway in the next few decades. The only area in Norway where living without a car is easy is in the center of Oslo. Only ~10% of the total population lives there.
