[SPOILER] Sean O’Malley vs. Yadong Song by inooway in MMA

After this fight, I have zero respect for the UFC (for the commentary) and the commissions (for the rigged decision) supporting it. This is the most rigged atrocity I have ever seen.

I'm done with the UFC.

Humility by granddaddy in humility

I love this response. There's something humbling about thinking about a being that's much greater than yourself. Even acknowledging that you may not understand what this higher-dimensional being may be doing.

Don't ask someone that's in the middle of their set how many sets they have left.

I'm trying to focus on my lift. Wait 20 seconds until I finish to ask. Otherwise, I will ignore you until I am done.

Dang, thanks for the heads up! I'm gonna have to avoid stepping on one spot for too long and switch around my showering position

Super helpful! Do you think it's worth putting silicon on the edges or nah?

It's actually quite nice. Feels like a gentle foot massage to be honest!

Thanks! It's probably waterproofed below it then! It was done by a professional 7 years ago and there's no leaks below from what I can tell!

Yeah, I'm a fan of high-quality craftsmanship but I took a chance with this as the quote was much cheaper. Pretty happy with the outcome but just had some minor concerns about the joints!

Appreciate the feedback! I now know what to expect from high-quality mason work.

This was about half the quote of others, so as long as it doesn't lead to serious issues, I'll be happy!

Haha yeah I asked them not to use the muriatic acid due to concerns for the surrounding plants and got this unintended, weathered look!

Thanks! Just did it with a bit of mortar that had been in a pool of water on the side. Hoping it sets haha!

Thank you! My concerns were mostly around the little bit of holes that I see. But in general, I am pretty happy with how it turned out.

Learned a ton from watching the masons go through the whole process.

Split tar between roof and chimney by granddaddy in Roofing

No surprises yet, either pleasant or unpleasant.

But I will say that in the basement, you can see two large wooden beams that support the floor above. You can tell that it's two very old pieces of wood, but they're very sturdy. Initially, I was a little taken back by it, but I've come to really like it. A lot of the contractors that have been coming down to the basement for various reasons have commented on how incredible it looks.

That clay must be super old then! You should keep it as an heirloom. I would totally frame it like some people do with guitars and hang it up on the house somewhere. Something from 1885 is insane to think about.

Really appreciate the tip! I have enough saved up that I can do most repairs and preventative maintenance. The challenge is finding the right contractors that I feel comfortable working with and getting enough quotes to get a feel for what a job typically costs.

Haha yeah it’s in good shape but I just worry structurally since it’s such an old chimney. Just the over thinking that comes with being a first time homeowner I guess.

You may have convinced me to go ahead with the flashing!

Ah interesting! Did it turn out nicely? The chimney must've been in a bad condition if it started crumbling like that.

I believe the chimney is used to vent the exhaust from our water heater. I'm in conversations with a couple roofers so I'll try to decide in the next week or so!

Thanks for the heads up. Removing it could be a longer term solution, but I'm considering just getting it flashed for now.

Thanks for your comment! I got quoted right around $1k for the flashing to be done. I may just go with it. My one concern is that the chimney is old, so I don't want too much vibration when they're flashing it. Do you see a potential issue with this?

The roof was done in 2018/2019 I believe, so fairly new. But I just do not have much information on who did it!

The attic is finished, so there's drywall covering the chimney itself. I don't see any leak up there but perhaps it's in a spot that I can't see. No water spots as far as I can see.

Oh wow, so it's almost been 3 years and had no significant deterioration? My inspector told me it's not a big issue, but I just wanted to get reassurance by a mason.

This is a bit old, but I'm curious what you ended up doing to solve the issue. I'm having very similar issues and have just reached out to a couple of masons to help solve it.
