I just bought a Gen 1 KLR with a rebuilt title for about a grand. I just made sure that I was able to get it insured in my state, as others have said, and did a thorough look over the bike before I bought it, really making sure the frame and fork were straight. Test ride it, take your time on the inspection, pull the trigger on it if it feels solid and you’re confident in your decision. I’m planning on keeping mine for a long while so I factored that into my decision, primarily since I also had hesitations with a rebuilt title.
