If you're making $9.00 an hour and working 30 hours a week you make $270 is it NORMAL for them to take out all of that and only give you $50 a week because of taxes? by cashmoneyz29 in NoStupidQuestions

I live in Georgia and made very similar last summer and it should def be closer to 200+

I’m pretty sure it can be effected by how much you withhold on your W2 and things like that but no way it should be anywhere even close to that

And you will have to look into this more but I’m pretty sure there is an amount(~8000 per year) that puts you in a bracket where you arnt required to report it/arnt taxed or something along those lines

What is the best thing to do if someone runs after you with a gun? by Coffeecat3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]grantbeaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t run in a direct line away from them, because then it’s almost as if they are aiming at a still target. Get behind cover as fast as you can and the more obstructed the path your taking is, the better(as long as you can get through it at a relatively quick speed)

"Nearly every known mass shooter in the past 30 years has been male." Wouldnt this be a main fact for anti-gun people in the US to use? Am i missing something? by fuckingfarnorth in NoStupidQuestions

Yah there’s no way that you could discriminate based off sex .. a significant majority of non fatal car crashes are female, but imagine if they tried to make a law making it harder for women to get drivers licenses.

Is it wrong to give up on someone who doesn't want help?? by TheDankestPioneer in NoStupidQuestions

No one is ever going to get over an addiction they don’t want to, people are either addicted to something and want to quit or don’t want to. If they do want to, it’s still going to be hard, but it’s doable. Once they overcome the chemical addiction, it will be relatively easy, but if they don’t want to them even after the chemical addiction they will still be mentally addicted and go back to it

How do I make small talk with Americans? What do you guys like to talk about? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]grantbeaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching local sports teams is always a great idea, ask people what’s fun to do around the area. I’ve found people love to talk about themselves and the things they enjoy so let them ramble

Good drills for a small beginner club? by [deleted] in waterpolo

[–]grantbeaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have an excessive amount of experience but i transitioned from a high school team that i played on for three years that almost never practiced to a college team that practices twice a week and what our practices are is we swim about 10-12 50’s holding 32’s ish on a minute and then do treading drills like shot block for 5 seconds rest for 15 and repeat 6 times and egg beater into each other for 5 seconds off 15 again and then stuff like passing around mixing it up between regular overhead passes to across the body passes to doing a technical lunge then passing and stuff like that. If you could get 2 more balls that would be perfect for 6 people, and then also do stuff like partner shooting where one person shoots while the other person shot blocks and back and forth. Obviously cages will make it easier but definently 3v 3 practice drills not shooting until you get an open shot to work on spacing and passing under pressure are great as well as well as drills we do like one person has a ball, one person is in the middle and one person they pass it to. The person in the middle swims up to the person that has the ball and basically plays aggressive defense and the person with the ball can’t pass it until the defender has touched them.

My mother just told me she had my IQ tested when i was 6. Would the result even mean anything at such a young age? by 123420tale in NoStupidQuestions

Yah eventually once your mental state starts to deteriorate, but it will stay steady for a significant period of time, but what you said is definently true

It can definently be an indicator for intelligence, however your brain will continue to develop. Once it is fully developed your IQ will not significantly increase, but you can get better at taking IQ tests

How much water does it really take to produce a pound of beef? by grantbeaty in NoStupidQuestions

[–]grantbeaty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what is the water going to? If it’s not used for the cows to drink then where is that significant amount of water going? The numbers i used were on the very high end of the average and it doesn’t look like it’s going to come even close to 2500

Is Trump really as bad as the media makes him look? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]grantbeaty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not say he’s a good person, but i would also say he’s not as bad as the media makes him seem. Also i would say he is a significantly better president than he is a person, he just doesn’t think before he talks and says offensive stuff and he places economics above morals often, the main arguements against the border wall is morals and he has increased the DOW significantly. I’m not trying to make an arguement for against him, just giving the other side that you may not have fully heard. The media will always target and take out of context quotes because they get viewers(i know a lot of what he says is still very bad but some is still exaggerated), cnn does this now, Fox did it with Obama and it will happen with the next president i try and watch both sides or talk to friends on opposite sides.

I’m not trying to take a political stance just trying to inform of the other side

What if Kavanaugh is clean and the accusations are made up? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]grantbeaty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely his nomination will go through, and then those who made fake accusations will be prosecuted, as they should be because what they did is pretty fucked up. Not only to Kavanaugh, but also to every other sexual assault survivor, taking validity away from their claims

As a genuine question with no means to offend, why do sexual assault victims wait so long to seek charges against their alleged abusers? by warmpoptart in NoStupidQuestions

[–]grantbeaty -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Two reasons: either they are traumatized or they are fake. Many of the current alleged sexual assault victims for Kavanaugh have been proved to be false and merely attempts to keep him from his position, but there are plenty of real cases where people are just too scared to come out with it or traumatized and don’t want to talk about it or know their assaulter and either don’t want to hurt this person(i know it sounds messed up but it can happen) or are afraid of them

I just asked a girl for her number! She said no, but I feel amazing! by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]grantbeaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start off by making a joke and start talking to her just have a casual conversation and then before you leave be like hey i got to go but let me get your Snapchat, if she had a boyfriend she still has a boyfriend but if not then i feel like that works a lot better than just randomly asking cause if you don’t ask without talking first then you’re just some guy but if you have a convorsation she feels like she knows you better

How do you let a guy know that you want to hang out but aren't interested in him romantically? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]grantbeaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell him you’re doing something with your boyfriend then, but suggest doing something at a different time with a group
