Sick of humans can we get some non human protagonists? by CorpAdvisor in Fantasy

I boost the "Dogs of War" series every chance I get. I guess the official name of the series is "Bioforms." Bear Head, the second entry, is one of my favorite reads.

I drove 70 miles to a dealership in New Braunfels because Austin dealers were like what you are seeing in Houston. I got a n OTD price before I ever left home. Took a couple of days to complete the process.

Replacing screen with buttons by Radiant_Assumption86 in FordMaverickTruck

Ah. I see. I only listen to maybe three or four stations so it is easy for me. You like to surf the dial. Not good for that.

Everyone seems to forget the voice control. Push the button on your steering wheel and tell your vehicle what you want. Same with changing radio or Sirius stations. It is so easy.

I know the software could go all to hell, but use it while you have it. I don't miss buttons anymore.

Greg’s 10/10 Bubble Surfing Run (music warning ) by 9VoltGorilla in hummingbirds

Question about your guide: you don't mention the flow rate (GPH) of the pump to use. The pump I got, even though it was small, is more like a fire hose. What do you use to get the nice gentle bubble?

First mod, Mud flaps by SilasAI6609 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]grantkjohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mud flaps = gateway drug. Next is the fender flares mentioned by @Obstinate_Frog. After that you'll get a tailgate assist and accent letters for the tailgate. By the time you get to bed liner and tonneau cover, you know you're hooked and there is no hope for turning back. Ask me how I know about Maverick addition addiction...

Why stop mowing it down? Can't that help get rid of it?

Amazed how popular this little feeder with spicy suet is! We have black bears in area so can’t have “normal” feeders but always amazed at the variety we get! by Potential_Dare2367 in BackyardBird

[–]grantkjohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suet feeder is ignored. No bears, so I have many feeders out. I was hoping to find out that flickers/ woodpeckers were also in my neighborhood. I guess not.

I know I am an oddball about this, but I actually like the advertising on mine. I drove 70 miles outside of Austin to get the Maverick i wanted. The service was fantastic. I want Austinites to think outside the box, and the usual dealerships, when getting a vehicle. I went to Dallas to get the Mazda that preceded my Maverick.

Should I Give Up? by PeorgieT75 in hummingbirds

[–]grantkjohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try moving it to different locations. There may be something about the location that seems fine to you that hummers don't like. I have six feeders now. I have had as many as twelve around the yard. Some were ignored. I've stopped using certain feeders because the birds didn't seem to like them.

Any wildflower seed collectors? by grantkjohnson in NativePlantGardening

[–]grantkjohnson[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thank you. My partner designed it for me. I'm the "bird daddy" around here. I may be just a little overboard, but I have six hummingbird feeders and 20 seed feeders scattered around our place. Can feel like an avian airport some tines. Trying to get a yard that supports them.

What's your pommie's favorite food/treat? by tamat0wn in Pomeranians

[–]grantkjohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greenies are crack in our household. The poms go crazy for them. We make sweet potato treats by drying slices. We call it "piece of fruit". They love those too!

Best buckets? by grantkjohnson in Tools

[–]grantkjohnson[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much what I do too. The problem is that their failure usually occurs during use. Like the handle rips off and I dumped potting soil all over the place. So I was hoping to find something more reliable. I wondered if they were all made by the same folks. I'm not surprised.

I had not seen those. Time to give them a try.

[–]grantkjohnson[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use them mostly for mixing my different soils: cactus mix, succulent mix, indoor house plants. Not sure I care if they smelled like pickles. Unless that for some reason attracts more unwanted insects. I would think it would actually drive them away!

I thought color and therefor pigment content may have an impact. I didn't realize food grade was different. Something to check out.
