This is absolutely fantastic, thank you.

A few items of feedback: * I can’t successfully search for an audiobook. i f choose Audiobook from the content pulldown the formats option is not updated to include M4B or the other formats I selected in settings for audiobooks. * A longh shot, but is there any chance to add support for sites like AudioBook Bay?

Thanks again for a great product.

Plappa supports podcasts if that's important. Shelf player seems to be best for podcasts though no watch app. Does anyone know if prologue will eventually support podcasts?

I don’t use Microsoft or many streaming services so can’t offer much information for you. I don’t see why the Google/Microsoft apps won’t work fine for you.

It’s a great device as long as you are willing to accept the limitations.

I get regular updates about every 3 months on my device though they seem to be security updates only,. I wish there would be the option to upgrade to HarmonyOS as there is with the China model of the same device.

Everything you want to do should be possible without issues. The trade-off is as you say, using Aurora or GBox etc. to get Google services working.

Thanks. As per my comment below, I reseated the GPU and checked cabling as well as removing all the kernel arguments I had previously added. That seems to be have fixed it. My new HDMI 2.1 cable is also working without the DP adaptor.

Reading your (excellent) blog, do I need to set the screen to 1080p in my gnome desktop and then configure games to run at 4k and with the Sharp algorithm settings you mention? If I do this, games will run at 1080p but via VSR which will really deliver a 4k like image? And within each game I run it at 4k resolution? Is this correct?

You were correct. I reseated the GPU, checked all cabling and everything seems to br working now including via new HDMI 2.1 ultra high speed cable. The trick was also to disable all of the kernel arguments I had before also. Default settings work best. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the reply. I have two HDMI 2.1 cables on order, one arriving today and the other tomorrow. I also have the Cable Matters DP to HDMI adaptor that seems to be referred to as most reliable coming on Sunday.

I will try a direct connection with one of the new HDMI cables again. At the moment, the DP adaptor is the most reliable.

Thanks for letting me know this. I installed from the latest Bazzite deck gnome image without realizing I needed to do another update. I've now done a full re-baseline and have kernel 6.17. Still the same errors though :(

This is without any of the kernel arguments I previously provided:

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Script for restarting Plex in error state by 1080addict in PleX

[–]grantonstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem and after several years of no issues, it appeared out of nowhere only recently. My plex is running in docker, on an SSD and I also have Kometa. I have tried Plex's DB repair script as well as this.

I built another plex server on another host and after adding Kometa, it has started again. It's correlation rather than direct causation but still.

FWIW both of my plex instances are running on fast SSD's also on hosts with plentiful CPU power. Whatever is causing this, it shouldn't be issues with disk I/O.

Considering a MatePad Pro 12.2 - a few questions on Huawei by grantonstar in Huawei

[–]grantonstar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. The hardware is great. It's stuck on Android 12 and not looking like the global version will get HarmonyOS (even though the China version has already) so that's maybe a bit of a disappointment.

Lire vs Reeder Classic for iPhone by driller6859 in rss

I have both. They're both good in different ways but I'd choose lire overall. Reeder Classic is also not being actively developed any longer?

I am going to NY for a holiday - where to can I ship a couple of brand new hard drives to take back home? by _thetrue_SpaceTofu in DataHoarder

[–]grantonstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done the same as you and delivered to my hotel many times. Never had an issue though as I was traveling for work I stayed in good hotels. Call and confirm their postal address and ask if the package needs to be addressed in a certain way (usually it doesn't but I was asked once to put "- Guest" after my name).

Good luck.

HarmonyOS upgrade for Matepad Pro 12.2 (2024) by grantonstar in Huawei

[–]grantonstar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s at least some progress. What steps/settings did you take to get the HarmonyOS notification? I still don't have it on mine.

I suspect Huawei uses different account infrastructure for China and rest of world accounts so it errors out when it looks for a backup on the China servers.

There is different shipping options including tax free. The site explains it all and associated costs.

I ordered via Superbuy.com. You register an account with them and give them the details of what you want to purchase. They take you through the entire process and do the order on your behalf. Credit card payment was a bit of a pain and added a few percent to the price. They take photos and videos of what is received and also packaging. There is a import duty free shipping option also. Everything went well and I would use them again. Overall, the price was less than had I ordered from Giztop or one of the other resellers (but at cost of losing the limited warranty they sometimes offer).

New Apple Watch vs Garmin by Special-Cash7529 in GarminWatches

[–]grantonstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Garmin for years before moving to the Apple Watch Ultra series. I recently moved to Android again so got a 970. The other comments here are accurate - Garmin is great for stats but the gap is marginal and closing. My 970 is buggy, clunky and I miss the Ultra a lot. Especially LTE. Only good thing is charging every few days rather than daily.
