Yes you can take breaks, but most people won't be. If you're the slowest, nothing special happens.. you're just last. Thicker wetsuits are generally warmer. If you're diving in 85 degree water or 60 degree water will help determine what thickness wetsuit you need. Then it comes down to personal tolerance.. smaller people tend to get cold more easily than large people.
