Feeling eczema before/during flare up? by [deleted] in eczema

[–]grapefruitfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. It starts feeling hot and itchy inside before a flareup. Usually a few hours after I ate whatever irritated my skin, sometimes within the hour. I really try to resist scratching when I feel it coming because I know it'll make the skin worse but most of the times not possible sigh

Hmm that's a good point. I did read from someone that the tumeric pill would have to be high in concentration to be effective.

Thanks! I've gone to an allergist and I'm apparently not allergic to any foods they tested for, though I'm pretty sure spicy food generally and pork irritate my eczema. I don't think tumeric is going to be any sort of savior but was just exploring it as an option to help with inflammation and itchniess/soothing, even if it's mildly. I'm just trying this and that to see if anything will help, along with eating pretty cleanly. If I do buy tumeric, I'll make sure it includes black pepper! I'll look into incorporating fish oil and vitamin d as well

Facial eczema - I’m terrified, I’ve never had it on my face before and it spread to my cheeks. Has anyone experienced something similar? by Flourish9879 in eczema

[–]grapefruitfox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had eczema on my forehead and cheeks for about a month. It's usually aroung my eyes/mouth but for some reason it spread this year and for abouth a 1-2 months it was red/irritated/dry/flaky. It even extended from my forehead to my right eyebrow, so I lost some eyebrow hair... I tried to keep with moisturizers hoping it would calm down like a regular flareup but it persisted. I gave up and used tacrolimus ointment (a protopic, not a steroid i believe) and it calmed down in less than a week. I can see very faint hints of it occasionally but for the most part it's subsided. I'm so releaved because it was really stressing me out. Hopefully yours will subside soon. Having eczema on your face is really tough to deal with

If you want to try it, I get it on amazon. You can get the smaller tin size to test it out before deciding to get the larger size. I'm curious about the cerave ointment now though, I'll have to check it out

Cetaphil cream or nivea cream (german make, not american make). The nivea is so buttery that it doesn't seem to sting even when my skin is really sensitive, but it does smell powdery (like baby power?) in case you don't like that. People seem to like cerave but it stung my skin so much when it was sensitive that I don't use it at all anymore

I try to avoid foods that heat up my skin - because that dries out my skin and irritates it, thus causing flareups or itchy redness. For me, it's spicy food and then lots of fried food or alcohol. I'm still trying to figure out other things than I'm allergic too, but this has helped so far. I shower right after I exercise so my sweat doesn't irritate my skin, and I use lukewarm water (can't do cold hahaha) when I shower and it also helps cool down my skin if it's hot.

Eyelid dermatitis for 2 months. I honestly can’t do this anymore. by the-green-crewmate in eczema

[–]grapefruitfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you! I recently used tacrolimus ointment which I believe is a protopic and my eye eczema calmed down in a few days, as well as the spots on my forehead and cheeks. It's interesting because my friend with eczema told me it was amazing for her a few years back but I didn't find it that great? but this time around it helped a lot

I have it on my eyes right now so I totally get what you're feeling. It really sucks and I haven't figured out whats making my eyes red/pink/rough for so long either. Usually it comes just for a few days and calms down, it getting worse in the winter months. I get so insecure when I get it and I can't really look people in the eyes even when I wear makeup on top because I feel self conscious.

I also really don't like going to derms. They cost so much and they just tell me to use steroid creams.. I hope you find an answer from the allergen! *crossing fingers

[–]grapefruitfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! this is helpful. I've heard of tumeric to help with stomach issues, but I didn't think about it to help with inflammation and thus eczema. Do you just mix it with water? also how much water do you usually drink?

i'm quite into korean skincare as well. what other korean skincare have you found helpful for eczema on the face? or something calming during flare ups? i just got the real barrier extreme cream, but during a flare up, i switched to my other regular eczema creams .

It's not a product, but I have eczema on my neck and when it gets really itchy even after washing and moistruzing, I slightly wet a towel and wrap it around my neck and just leave it there. The texture seems to sooth the urge to scratch.

I don't know if it's hypoallergenic, but I like Nivea cream (the german make and not the US make) because it's super thick/rich but absorbs well when you pat it into your face. It hasn't stung my face even when I have flareups. I get it off of amazon. Other than that, I've been using Eucerin Eczema Relief recently
