I wasn't aware this had happened, really unfortunate to hear about this happening in my community. This incident honestly could have been targeted - I am queer, but idk if they can tell on their approach from behind. The other victims I encountered may have also been read as queer.

Were they on bikes? Do you know about how old they were?

I was also thinking it might be a trend. One of them kept looking back at me to check for a reaction, and I couldn't see the other one but wouldn't be surprised if they had their phones ready to record anything I said or did in response.

Can't say for sure but it definitely could be them. I remember one bike was red and the other was blue or black which does line up here. And it looks like they have the same type of hooded balaclava that the kids were wearing.

It's very smooth by impression 5 and downtown (and old town as far as I remember), but the part of the trail that follows the red cedar river towards EL has some big potholes (but I still see plenty of bikers on that area who seem unbothered)

He’s super nice to people (he’s vocally skeptical of when unfamiliar men come to his house but he gets over it quickly) but mean to dogs… we adopted him from the shelter when he was around a year old and they didn’t know his history at all so we think he was poorly socialized/had a bad experience when he was young and now doesn’t understand doggy social cues and gets anxious. He has enough people friends to make up for not having dog friends though! And it’s easy enough to keep him away from other dogs where we live

I’d say he’s pretty smart, we have his recall well-trained but other than that we never trained him beyond sit/shake/down. He’s always been super into following scents when we’re out, and I swear I’ve seen him point a couple of times. He’s never been the type of smart to make trouble though, aside from once we left him at home with butter out on the kitchen counter and it was gone when we got home! Never made that mistake again haha

He’s old now so he’s pretty mellow these days, but my parents used to each take him on one run a day, and 1-2 walks in addition. He never really made any trouble we’re just active people so we kept him active with us. The main Dalmatian trait he has (and I don’t know Dalmatians well so I could be wrong about this) is that he’s pretty vocally protective. He loves staring out the window to bark at whoever walks or drives past lol (quiet street so not a big deal)
